Are you bilingual?

pingryanime:
If you consider my two years of german that I can manage to get around with as, "sufficiently fluent" then I suppose I'm trilingual.

casshie:
I can speak English,Chinese and Thai =) Currently studying how to speak and write Japanese.

xfreidax:
I think a good test of fluency is if you can think in a particular language. Does it roll off your tongue without you needing to translate your thoughts from your native/mother tongue?

For example I need to switch modes. If I'm talking to a guy in Mandarin (all my thoughts are in Mandarin) and some other guy ask me something in English, I need to pause for awhile and switch into my English mode to answer.

I mean, this IS a forum in english, the language most people learn after their native language.

Three and a half languages here. I can also curse fluently in Finnish.

lemme see. write it down.

Wish I was fluent in French, seeing as I live in Quebec and all. Fluent in English, also can speak a decent bit of Hebrew (with an accent even) and understand a bisel Yiddish.
