I didn't have any, run it in XP compatibility and as an administrator, cuz you could have problems with saved games not saving, rarely but does happen, I ran it on W7 64bit pro, like a kitten :)

I still have the retail of the first version somewhere hidden in my storage closet.  Never installed.  Long forgotten till I read this thread. I wonder if any problems running on Win7?

Works ok on win xp. I believe the original specs were much earlier than that.

Don't dick around with the controls during cinematics. You hear Alice actually doing that stuff and she might get stuck which yields an annoying replay of sound effects till the cinematics end.

Some of the controls didn't work on mine. I can't alt tab out nor use the windows key to minimize the game.

Are you running as administrator ? Cuz i changed the everything into XP compatibility and as admin, and it worked just fine, it shouldn't give you any problems actually.

I played it on a machine with XP installed.

and you had problems ?
I had none, XP ran it smoothly, w7 was sometimes choppy, untill i set some visuals better, i thought they would obstruct the gameplay but it was quite awesome in fact, dunno why you have problems.

No, no. It works fine.

- I just can't alt-tab out, or use the windows key to minimize it in game.
- There seems to be a bug (probably the game itself) where mashing keys during cinematics may cause Alice to get "stuck". Which causes sound effects to go bonkers until the cinematics end.

All of a sudden, the controls seemed like the original Harry Potter games... but not as retarded of an idea or storyline as the Harry Potter game.

hmm I don't have that problem, you might want to check the key bindings and config files to see if there is something like "WindowsKey disabled =1"
Although I don't have that, and in Win7 nothing like that happens, the only problem is high resolution :)
As for mashing key in cinematics, and Audio problems, try checking in Audio settings, maybe you can solve it there, depending on how your audio is set up.

I have no issues with high res, unless you're talking about something else I'm not paying attention to.

Audio wise, it's just that when you press (for instance: Jump), you hear Alice jump during cinematics etc. Or slash or whatever. Usually it's not an issue unless you mash jump a shitload of times, then the jump sound continually repeats.

Hmm, pretty weird cuz I don't encounter that problem, as for the resolution, I only wish it was high res :) you know, like 1080p :D
maybe they will modify the new release with the second game :) that would be awesome.

I don't recall there being any patch for the game but you might try searching for it, if there is, maybe it could solve your problem :)

I know, but that game deserves 1080p :D
Slashing through card soldiers was always fun, I rarely used any other weapon in that game, that knife was imba XD
Billy Club was fun too, or deck of cards :)

----------------------------

LOL, just checked out of curiosity, cuz I pre-ordered, the torrents are filed with fakes XDD

I pity the fools that don't know the release date :D

EDIT newy: Is there a need to doublepost...

Game is nice, loved the fact that they included the prequel. It needs a crackfix <- done

I'm really thinking about buying it since I actually like it.

I normally get games through from EA to review, this hasn't turned up however, I'll give them till the post arrives tomorrow morning and then fire off an email (mostly as my servers email client appears to have been acting up all day long...)

OK, I been playing this for the past week, as I was having a lot of time (banned from forum and on holidays, spending a lot of time at home and wandering around a lot with my gf) I have to do a very short review of this game:

For Starters:
Every player for the PC, probably ordered the game, and can AND SHOULD play the first game provided with the second one, graphics artwork updated, not entirely up to the latest trends but it is updated enough, had the pleasure to play it for a while and I'm honestly amazed, the remake is great, the AMR (Alice Madness Returns) game however is a lot different, and I should scold McGee, why ? i'll tell you guys why in a bit.

The Good:
Pretty much Everything in this game is awesome.
Story 10/10
Audio 10/10
Music 10/10
Gameplay 10/10 (pretty intuitive and all buttons are near your fingers so you don't need to wander all around the keyboard)
Artwork and visual Experience 11/10 !

Yes, the game exceeded my expectations, wonderful dynamic graphics, lush scenery in one moment to later seeing a tarnished slum of London.
Mechanics in this game are awesome.
Minigames !
one of the minigames has a completely different artwork (Oriental World)
I haven't gotten past chapter 3 yet but all this game needs to be even more amazing is having Space Invaders - type of minigame.

Something console players will not like is - A lot of puzzles, and not too many fights to do.
But this is a good thing, compared to American McGee's Alice where enemies were more frequent, this game mainly develops around 2 types of enemies, the locals as I should call them are environmental native attackers, the second type is RUIN, at the start of the game we will see 2D intro, where Alice says that her mind is in RUIN, presumably those enemies are representing her struggle.

The Gameplay is very incredible, the action-adventure isn't exactly this game, you have a lot of adventure in this game, but you have to solve a lot of puzzles to obtain many secrets, many of those secrets include unlockable artwork and Alice's memories, you should focus on finding as many as you can in the first playthrough, to understand Alice better.

And now the Bad:
-No Multiplayer....
-745 memory checks

yup that is all that is bad about this game.
not enough ?
Apparently you have no idea what those memory checks are. American McGee claims that game developers are too focused on protecting their software instead of making an actually good game, he claims that no matter what protection you use, crackers will still find a way around it, so his team didn't even bother, EA however wanted to secure the game anyways, so in the midst of the game revision, they added those memory checks, oh so many memory checks, how does this work ? every several moments of the game progress, and every cutscene the game will perform a memory check to make sure the game is legit, it's a simple protection and yet so very annoying, the High end computers will not even notice this, but I have a rather mid-low end system, and I feel every check in the game, and it's terrible consequences that may follow occasionally (Game lockup, battle scene being unable to complete even when you defeat all enemies the battle still goes on due to memory check interruption, at this moment you have to restart from last checkpoint).

So the biggest asshole in the game industry (EA) takes the blame of the flames of rage on their own forum for those checks, High End systems will not be affected by those checks as they are usually performed by 3rd or 4th CPU core without interrupting the game flow.

Now the biggest Complaint is as follows:
Why oh why did we have to wait so long for this game ? :)

At least it's a game of 2011 for me.

Leaving DNF far behind with the disappointment it carries.

I sure hope you guys will, are and have enjoyed this game as much as I do.

For the sake of completion I use the Caterpillar dress, no need to use shrink ability so often.
But for the second playthrough I want to use all dreses, especially the story mode ones Mermaid and Cheshire cat, also flesh maiden looks really badass, did you notice what Alice looks like in Hysteria Mode ?
FLAWLESS!
