Has anyone figured out a good way to make tons of currency? I need 360,000 to recruit Deneb and making currency in this game is a fucking miracle. Let me say it again. A MIRACLE! I have to stack on so much of those exorcism crap and I usually get the Mending herbs to get an early head start with haste on most of my characters. I just need this damn currency first. Also, the the Glass thing it's asking for so when she joins your party she's a Wicci. It says Palace of the Dead Lv. 1 just keep repeating that. Meh, I only have one so far. I need 29 more. LOL.

Get the guide with it! You're gonna need the guide. There are three different routes that split up right at the end of Chapter 1. There's Lawful, Chaotic and Neutral arcs. There's different endings too and recruiting characters (at least half of them) is Crazy hard. Ravness <3!!! The story is very, very good and character build is pretty fucking excellent. It's much better than FFT: War of the Lions even thou both games were made by the same company (Square Enix) and similar people from both projects. FFT should have been like this ... For end game progressions, like Palace of the Dead (as an example) you want to go online and look for the drop rates:

Pirate's Graveyard loot table. That's one of the small dungeons which only spans around 12 floors. Palace of the Dead goes to 100, and anything beyond that is extremely hard (extending to 115 floors and they're called Ogre battles). There's another end game dungeon that's about 40-50 floors and that one is the hardest dungeon in the game according to people and the guide.

Anyways I'd like to have another person to discuss this game with so without getting off topic from here just post in this thread.

Posting here as you requested. =P

That sounds a lot more convoluted than the GBA version. AFAIK there are three possible endings with two slightly different routes, but the general story moves in a linear direction. But I'm not one to purchase guides... Everything I've ever needed I was able to find on GameFAQs.

And Squeenix? It was Atlus who translated the GBA one. I don't recall seeing the Squeenix name on it.

Man, the PSP version is, like, a beefed up version of the GBA version, plus a ton of other stuff. eBay, here I come...

Going to update first thread with online databases and information on the game. You'll want to review them. About half the characters in the game require "specific" events, routes or/and items in order to recruit them. Everything else is self explanatory. Let me know when you get the game!

... What first thread? There's another one?

Ordered the premium edition on eBay a couple days ago. Now the long wait... Hope Canada Post's backlog isn't so bad that it takes a lot longer than usual to deliver anything new.

Ever play the GBA TO?

First post I meant. I have played the one on Play Station and loved it a lot. But only played it for a day or two and we had to return the game. The PSP game received huge improvements over many things. FFT should have been JUST LIKE this game. FFT:WotL was really not balanced like Tactics Ogre: LUCT. The story for both games were really good, Tactics Ogre seems to be better because of the three different routes you take and other things that make sense (Lord for Denam, Princess/Dark Priest for Caticue or whatever her name is) and most classes have special classes. The problem with TO is it lacks special classes that FFT has - We already have White Knights, but we don't have Arc Knights, we don't have Holy Knights and mostly they're "Knights" and could have been different names. Most attacks are similar in TO. FFT's problem is all those special Knights are severally overpowered to the point of nothing can stand a chance against them and there is no charge-up power like in TO. In TO the Finishers (remember FF7's limit breaks? they're called Finishers in TO) have charge-up time in TO which makes it really awesome! Magic Power works like the charge up meters too so you never have to worry about running out of MP. But you start the fight with 0 MP (you can use MP pots to get more MP at the start, mid or towards the end of the fight).

Another problem with BOTH games is they lack enemies that adjust not to just your level, but to your highest "powerful" character's abilities. I have usually 5 or so players with max'd out Finishers and the enemies only have the first Finisher, rarely a second Finisher. They also don't have some higher abilities that my players have which makes them not very challenging. You can visit those end game dungeons and these guys are pretty tough in some cases, but you can still overcome them because they don't have what you have. My White Knights plus Jeanun (whatever his name is) the Dragoon go across mid field, take very little beating but in return their damage is spiky as hell so I end up killing things very quickly (fucking like Ravness, <3!)

End content bosses are just re-colors of normal enemies and few buffs making them a bit hard to kill so it doesn't matter what the class says on them, they're not unique what-so-ever. TO lacks very much in that area, unlike FFT. TO lacks monsters, I expected to have more monster classes.

Only game so far that has uniqueness is Valkyria Chronicles. Every character you recruit is unique ... I mean, unique. No one is the same. They all have different profiles, different histories, likes, dislikes, birthdates, different looks for god sakes, too! Tactics games need to pick these things up and work on them.

Lol, okay, I get it, the game is awesome. =P

Have you ever played the GBA TO though? The Knight of Lodis? Just a curious question. And it matches what you said pretty much spot-on. Save for a few bosses with unique classes, they're mostly just regular characters that are 3-4 levels above everyone else.

Also came with this nice mini OST and a hardcover booklet of character art.

Nice, I started playing it again about two days ago. I'm like at level 31 and I just got the Shaman class. I'm gonna finish the game so it could allow me to go back in-time to change some decisions I made and recruit more characters!

Heh, I popped the game in, updated my system, and tried playing it. I got past the intro dialog and etc., but when I reached the battle map, it kept randomly scrolling the map to the top left. Reset the system, same thing. So basically, I can't play this. =P

My guess is that the scrolling is done by the analog stick, yes? I customized my PSP's housing about a year ago, so maybe I screwed something up inside when I did that. I haven't played any PSP games since, so I never noticed it until now.

Your PSP is screwed up. The game should be fine.

But ... omg, this game is freaking AMAZING. I beat it and I loved the ending very much (Law route, Princess secured or whatever). Also, once you beat the game, you can keep going :D! They call it CODA (Post-game). And you get to recruit some more characters and go for some epic adventures. The only thing I advise on Palace of the Dead is to avoid going beyond floors 80. In fact, if your trying to get 30 Pumpkin Glass then just do floor one and retreat and just kill those Familiars and force them to drop bags to recruit Deneb (Wicci class). This is before you beat the game and go in CODA mode. In CODA mode, once you read the Talk and go to Heim you can go to PotD so you don't waste your time there and get to go beyond 100th floor and recruit some rare (and bad ass) characters.

The hardest character to recruit is Deneb, fuck ... I only got like 8 Glasses or something. But I got everything else, just need those Pumpkin Glass.

Yeah, looks like the problem is pretty common and fixable with patience. I'm gonna have to find some time to fix it one day. =(

Deneb's pretty easy to get in the GBA TO. All you have to do is recruit a female character named Deneb, get her alignment to N or C, level up her stats until she can class change to witch, and do the class change.

Deneb's Wicci class seems to be famous. You can also recruit Warren (forgot what class he is) and Lanselot (Paladin) but that's in CODA. I've stopped playing the game for a week or two, but I can feel the strong urge to get back and get those fucking Pumpkin Glasses to recruit Deneb before I move towards the 100th+ floor in Palace of the Dead. Apparently there's a story connection for that, too. I've read online that there are four different episodes in CODA. I'm in the Second Episode at the moment (recruiting Warren and Lanselot).
