New and having seeding troubles
« on: February 07, 2011, 11:42:34 PM »
I'm new here and I am doing my best to follow the rules but seemed to of run into trouble. I downloaded a torrent but I noticed that its only seeding at 2-3kbs so I grabbed to more in hopes that I would be able to blast up my ratio. I'm downloading at around 2mbs but only seeding at 5kbs total. I received a warning and this is my first day so I could use some help.

Actually, you are NOT warned yet, according to your tracker profile.
But to effectively boost your ratio while not increasing your DL stats, get freeleech torrents.

Before you become warned I suggest downloading a few freeleech torrents as well. Its a good way of getting some content to seed back if you need it.

Also trying downloading things from other torrenting sites and re-seeding them here. There is a guide in the wiki on re-seeding if you need it. I am sure you can search for other anime trackers to download our files off of but if you need some help with that there there are some useful sources in our wiki as well.

alternatively you could've just read one of the (by now likely) thousands of posts regarding this "issue"... it's getting really old.

I joined 3 hours ago so perhaps they could of waiting until I downloaded a full torrent before getting "Warning
Your account is in danger of being warned, please seed more or you will be warned eventually. If you are warned you can no longer download, you may only seed to improve your ratio."

a warning will already only be handed out after you've downloaded more than 25gb ... that's enough for 5 reasonable sized 12ep 720p shows (25 hours of non-stop anime watching).

in addition you can always finish your first download - even if you get warned in the process - as long as you don't close your client.

if you decide to start of by downloading a complete 167ep show in addition to a 26ep and a 13ep show you don't have to be a genius to figure out it might be tough on your ratio.
considering it's all written down in the wiki there is no "but i didn't know" either...

-cut out first paragraph blubart said it better-

Also if you joined 3 hours ago then what are you complaining about? After 3 hours you haven't seeded what you downloaded? Try maybe after a week or 2. The key to this site is patience (also stated in the wiki). I judge that you are probably experienced in torrenting so you should have realized your upload speeds would be slow on an of our torrents with seeder:leecher ratios like ours.

Perhaps testing the waters would have been a good idea?

I think we need to change the term "warned." It's kinda ambiguous, and you can see in this case that the guy was warned that he would be warned if he continues on his way, leading to some confusion.

May I suggest "leechblocked"? I can't think of a better one at the moment.
