Seeding protected torrent
poke:
Hey everybody, I have a quick question:
Why am I not able to seed torrents, which download is disabled to protect the initial swarm?
I was watching over the offers recently, trying to find something to increase my (still low) ratio. I was quite happy to see that there was a series, I already downloaded at some previous time, so I would get the chance to be a seeder directly from the start. Now the torrent was accepted, but downloading is disabled to protect the initial swarm. But the thing is that I don't want to download, but to seed that torrent (and as such help others within the initial swarm phase to get it too). Why is that not possible? Wouldn't it be much better to allow everyone, who already has the files, to distribute it too?
Thank you!

I don't know about newly release torrrents since I haven't tried downloading a very new torrent..
but If you really want to boost your ratio without damaging your ratio, download freeleech torrents
mainly, 1080p release or artbooks :)

lol, do you think everyone would seed if we allowed access for everyone? People are leeches (I did not forget the "r"). We implemented that system to protect the health of the torrents. Without it we would be no better than other trackers that tolerate "hit and run" and we would have tons of torrents without seeders in the worst case scenario.
If you had read the rules you'd know that only Power User are allowed to leech/seed during the time after the grant as these individuals have shown that they do care about giving and taking.

You don't allow downloading for people with bad ratio, but those can still upload (when the torrent is completed); where would be the difference with allowing (registered) users with completed torrents to seed a protected torrent?
My question was not about giving access to everybody, but rather giving seed access to those who could seed in such situations..

And who can tell us that the user who is requesting a torrent wants to seed? Do you think we say ok if the user says, "Trust me, I have the files." We actually trust people. We trust them to read the rules before signing up. But as you can see, that trust has brought has the Warn system. So much for trust.
Why do we allow Power Users to seed the torrents? Because we know that they don't run away once they have finished leeching. It is your fault for blindly leeching that you are now warned. You were asked to read the rules when signing up and I recommend you to read them again, especially the "In Trouble" links.
