Hi folks
He i am direct from the p2p scene shadows, with another huge factoid.
A 'playable' beta version of Crysis II has been leaked from Crytek. The file is already
available from an ever growing number of p2p sources.

edit blubart: removed the link - we are staying out of the warez business for a reason.

Apparently it is highly playable with some to be expected idiosyncrasies due to the fact it is a
beta not a release demo.

Exactly how this devastating leak has occurred on the watch of one of the industries most together developers is unclear.
But i'd be very surprised once the dust settles if at least one person doesn't end up sacked.

Though the situation may not be entirely negative for Crytek if they handle this properly it could be turned into an early opportunity to gather some player feedback, and accelerate the viral hype-train, which are such an important element of big projects like Crysis II.

Ah, lol I forgot that there are people that live in authoritarian regimes where privacy info is given to companies and so people are actually at risk downloading via bittorrent. Foolish me

i live in jersey so they need to go pretty far up the food chain before they can get my info. However that doesnt stop them from sending out nice HEY ISP THIS ASSHOLE IS DOWNLOADING THIS ILLEGAL ASS FILE MOFUCKA. And getting warning letters and then internet DCed and them denying you service.

But that doesnt stop me from saying fuck that file

I am not sure if I want to download an unpolished beta, even though it is legally speaking safe as fuck for me to download anything on trackers, save for child pornography, which is the only reason when police here pay attention to what is happening on the internet.

Really, Crysis games have never been deep on story or were good in any way other than impressive graphics, most people here can surely wait until release, right?

Does anyone know if the PC version will support DirectX 10/11 too? Or will it only be DX9 like the console versions?

I wouldn't personally consider anything in leaked beta as indicative of the finished product.
The leaked beta supports DX9 only...... but is a leaked internal dev copy, however i would consider it inconceivable that Crytek would release a PC version of Crysis without DX11 support ....... as basically that would be fuckin' suicidal.

It takes time to develop for dx11, so it's not like they will just throw in a dx11 at the last second. If the game does support it, maybe it was just hidden/disabled in the beta version.

Also, they made a game for both pc and console? Great, another pc game that will be a poor console port. Mediocre game just went even more crap...

A Crysis game that is going to ported and add the fact companies aren't going to spend as much money on games as they did when first Crysis came out means this is going to be aboring game with graphics only slightly better then the last. I hope I am proven wrong as Crysis is still a fun game to play especially its replayability as I get a new computer every year or so meaning I get an extra 10 fps every year...

Actually, I believe that, here, for a change, the console versions are ports of the PC version. I could be wrong though.
