Best Torrent Site For New Animes.
« on: February 14, 2011, 05:53:20 AM »
First of all let me start off by saying that I love this site and have used it for a long time now. I went to go search for a anime tonight that is brand new, as in still airing new episodes of season one in japan and DUH Bakabt doesn't have it because Bakabt only has at lest whole seasons. So with this in mind, what sites does everyone recommend for new animes that are still in the middle of airing a season? Somewhere that I can find all of the greatest and latest and it is not to insanely hard to keep a ratio.

PEACE

Go to anidb, check who is subbing that show, choose a group and go to their site. Fansub groups usually provide their own torrents for each episode they release.

this....after a few seasons you should have nearly every fansub page bookmarked anyway, except HorribleSubs.

Yeah what's up with HorribleSubs anyways? LOL I downloaded a show that they subbed but have not watched it yet. I'm guessing with a name like HorribleSubs they are... Horrible? LOL XD

HorribleSubs is fine, they're just trolls sometimes.
It's best not to get into it in this topic.

Ontopic:

I find bookmarking fansub pages tedious and messy; This is why tokyotosho is my site of choice- everything's in one place.

HS is basically Crunchy Roll rips.
Anyway yea, I agree TT is the best bet cuz it keeps pretty much everything in the same spot. I don't bother checking certain subbers pages cuz I am not patient. I always pick up whatever drops first. Then, by the time the next weeks episodes come out all the other groups have caught up and I will DL the previous episode from which ever group that I decided to stick with for archiving purposes.

However, I guess this approach wouldnt be prudent for anyone with bandwidth caps since I am effectively DLing 2x what I really need.

I have the RSS feed of www.baka-updates.com and some fansub groups, but when I decide to watch some new show I go to anidb to check who is subbing it, instead of sifting trough the feeds, since sometimes some groups call the same show differently (some use the Japanese title, some translate it). After I choose a group, I go to their site to download the already released episodes. Then, I check the feed(s) to see whether they released a new one. I sometimes set up automatic downloading on uTorrent, but not always, mainly if the group does not release the episodes regularly, so there is higher probability that I might miss the release.

How hard is it to keep a ratio at TokyoTosho? Some private Bit Torrent sites I have accounts at are super hard to keep a ratio while some places ( like here ) I find to be pretty darn easy. Anyone with a account there have any tips on the fastest way to get my ratio up there? I'm going to start searching on how to get a account there now ( in case it's invite / IRC interview only ).

I laughed at when someone said HS was Horrible... if they are soooo horrible... then that makes CrunchyRoll terrible too! :P

But yeah, just bookmark all the big subbing groups like Coalgirls, UTW, etc.

I almost always just go to the group's website (of choice).  Otherwise if I'm at my friends house and just want straight links for whatever groups are currently out (the fastest...), I'll use AnimeTake.

TT isn't a tracker, so it's not public or private.  It's an aggregator that makes it easier to find things from Nyaa, bt.edwardk.info, Anirena (well, when it was up), and all the fansubbers' personal trackers.  That's why it lists broken .torrent links from sites that have since died.

Personally, I use AniDB for notifications, then use TT to search for the particular file I'm looking for, as its usually faster than going to the fansubber's site and scrolling through releases I don't care about.

Some people lurk in #news and pay attention to release notices in there.
