Did I mention Hanairo is Coming of Age genre? I love coming of age stuff! I've updated the first post and included Wikipedia for English and Japanese. Really useful resources. Also, there is an on-going manga since December ... I have to go update that too.

I also need a picture to replace the oversized picture. Would like an HQ one that fits all 4 characters.

I'm with kamineko here. if you don't think the first guy to want to get his hands under ohana's panties needs a rival then indeed you do need a generic harem. from what i've seen so far this one relies heavily on character development, not romance or unresolved sexual tension. /opinion

and I'm with kamineko as well, i don't want any romance around Ohana too soon, if any should be, it hsould be when things around her allow for it, first of all, we get to know some new characters and we want development, we know a bit about everyone so far, nothing much, we don't know if Ko is suited for Ohana at all, what if Ko only wants her for himself, and now he plans on this voyage only to make sure she doesn't hook up with anyone more worthy of her ? if she finds someone who makes her feel comfortable around with and it's not Ko, i'll be fine with it, we also don't know anything about Ko yet, we only know he was aiming to be her boyfriend all the time, if that is correct he wasn't a good friend at all, and he might be the last person suited to be near her, if the creators of the anime have something planned for Ohana, I will wait patiently, cuz it's worth the wait.

It's wrong precisely because this is a coming-of-age show (=character development) of a female lead.

Switch to a story with a male protagonist: Not Iroha, but Ahiro, for example. In a similar setup, I would expect the lead to learn that he was oblivious to everything, even to his long-time girlfriend being in love with him, as the starting point only. From there on, a lot of things could (and should) happen, including finding a true love somewhere along the road.

In this situation (you identify with the lead), you would be disappointed if the story development was restricted to the guy sticking to his kindergarten friend, despite him being in a completely new environment with lots of new encounters. It could happen, but then it would be a major part of the plot (less coming-of-age, more a story about long-time love prevailing).

Now back to Iroha. I think it's terribly wrong to identify with the first male guy just because she's so cute that we all want to have her. This is a story about Iroha, not about Ko.

Nothing wrong with rooting for Ko. Here is my reasoning for it as it is right now-
He confesses in the first episode and she just blows it off, no real answer. Then as the episodes pass she stays in contact with him. I dont wanna say stringing him along, but never properly turning him down or accepting him. This is why I still root for Ko. Now, if there is another love interest later in the story, she needs to properly deal with the Ko situation before she moves on. I dont think Ko is the only possible partner she could have, but if another one comes up, I would like to see her deal with it properly. Now that aside, so far I have not seen any other guy who I particularly like so I am going to keep my hopes up that Ko gets his wish.

I kinda see it happening like this; as she helps with others interests, she begins to understand her own feelings and can come back to Ko later in the show more matured and able to deal with it properly.
At least that is the kind of vibe I am getting thus far.

but we aren't talking much about what actually did happen in the show, aside from the bird stalking Ohana occasionally, I find that very funny though

her reactions are so funny and cute

This weeks episode was really something interesting, it was so simple and yet it was so nice, I laughed quite a few times, and I don't blame them to drop jaws at the traditional clothes they wore later on, those looked really beautiful, I guess sometimes something new doesn't really mean new but old, it was really nice, I can't really say more than, NICE EPISODE IS NICE !

+500 kudos for Ohana for being brave though and another +500 for forcing the shy sister into it as well

as I said, something new, doesn't necessarily mean something like that, although the girls looked sexy, they were supposed to look good, and they hardly even felt comfortable with it, when you think of a change of uniform for your workers, you should consider if it would be comfortable, success at all costs is meaningless if your workers dislike their job.

I forgot to mention, Ohana's response to her payment, I was like, OMGOSH this girl is a saint
