Bulletstorm is HERE time KILL with SKILL
« on: February 22, 2011, 12:46:28 PM »
Hi folks
Dunno if most of you have heard of Bulletstorm, an Electronic Arts Published FPS developed by a polish studio People Can Fly, who are an Epic Games subsiduary.
Game features outstanding visuals and a kind of Duke Nukem meets Borderlands atmosphere, language is surprisingly uncensored and vivid, enemies can be dispatched in a variety of highly creative and gory manners, such as the Whip kick (front kick of the gods), and an electro whip. The game indicates varies humorously titled, unpleasant ways to eliminate foes. You gain points ( and supposedly hilarity am assuming ) based on the options you choose, the points can then be traded in for bigger guns and other kit. Check the video below.
Kinda unsure about this one. IMHO it could be the NEW Borderlands or it could turn out to be interesting for only a few hours.
Guess we'll see later.

Anyways PS3 XBox versions are out there on the P2P scene and a PC clone exists but has yet to be cracked.
Update: Now cracked by FairLight

that kick thing reminds me of Duke Nukem 3D so much... actually, the whole thing does. The badassery, the kick, the "alien" enemies.

I'm probably not getting it, like you said, could be the NEW Borderlands which was not s'good in my books. I may get it much later...
There must a be a reason for tanking things. And all must be in certain balance.

New Borderlands? I doubt that from what I've seen. Well I'll make a run to get this sometime soon as I'm craving something besides Black Ops and Borderlands  :P

After a quick glance over IGN's review it seems you may be right; "5.5 hour play through". You'd think that nowadays it would be the standard to offer high replay value in the form of extras, well lasting side quests, adequate DLC, or at the least decent multiplayer. Guess it can't be BL then.

Off topic: For anyone who watched E3 2010, do you recall one of the games (rpg/ Oblivion look) that was heralded on G4? I forgot the name of it but they played a demo of the game..

No it wasn't that. It was a new game series. I vaguely recall him running around in first person/(FPS qualities) indoors and using a detonating RC I believe. Guess I may look back through my Gameinformers.

*EDIT - It was Rage

i believe he would've preferred it if you had added a link alongside the name of the game so he could check it out.

PS: calling rage an RPG hurts! - i wouldn't even classify it as an action-adventure - it's a plain old FPS.
but i guess nowadays everything where you can at least switch weapons is considered and RPG (i blame you console kiddies! :P).

Well see I had envisioned it as an rpg/fps when I was recalling it, but I agree with you on it not being an rpg and the blurriness in its definition - i.e. (since I love it) I wouldn't call Borderlands an rpg, at least not a true rpg, just because you can throw in skill points. If you think about it - Role Playing game -not sure but in its literal sense you do take a certain role, albeit rather limited, in BL. Rpg is, well, Elder Scrolls to throw out one I'm familiar with, and Morrowind's fun hours of playability.

God comma madness. I must stop.

In regards to Rage we've yet to see how open ended the environment is. I think that could have some factor in it being an action-adventure. Hopefully it turns out to be that.
Here's your Rage demo

Uhhh, Borderlands is non-linear... made by Gearbox... published by 2K games... and features THOUSANDS of guns... along with being cartoonish.

Bulletstorm on the other hand is linear... made by People Can Fly... published by Epic... and features THOUSANDS of ways to kill people... along with being drop dead beautiful.

So yeah... New Borderlands? Doubt it...

That's basically what it is.  There's a couple dozen basic models with certain mods and can have certain other possible mods.  It's by no means thousands of UNIQUE guns.  I'd say you could probably get maybe a hundred genuinely unique weapons.

They'd probably tell you more in depth how it is on the BL forums. A few links would be this and this. There's guns then within those many prefixes modified by different parts of the gun in which there's more sub parts. Sometimes sub parts that are the same constitute different damage/accuracy/ROF too, so it gets even more diverse.

We've hijacked this thread lol.

to re-rail this topic, Bulletstorm doesn't look like it's floating anyone's boat, it doesn't look interesting apart from the whip, the kick and the whip-kick combo.

Ahaha.

Seriously though, I think something like "Warriors", though I've never played it, would be more fitting with their rioting and uprisings.
