My specs are:

Intel Core i5 760, Gigabyte P55-UD3 mobo, EVGA Geforce 460 vid, 650w PSU Antec, with 4 gig G.Skill 1333 DDR3.

The choppiness isn't bad or anything, however it is noticeable. Enough to make you say, "Okay, what the hell BioWare?"

I did test DX11 at full settings (everything set as high as they can go) and then with some settings set lower to see if there were any significant changes and unfortunately there was none as far as dealing with the choppiness. Not sure if I can fix the choppiness through the in game settings. I might need to fiddle with some out of game settings and see if it has any affect.

if you wait a while, i'm sure one of the game users will post a fix for that on the bioware official forum :) like they did with ME1/2/ DAO :)

Yeah, I found this thread over at the bioware site regarding fps drops.

I also have the newest nvidia beta drivers as well. Not really gonna complain until the drivers come out of beta. If the problem still persists when the drivers are finalized, then I definitely know its not nvidia.

If you can't work your 460 then I'll be in a pinch as well.
Running a 460 as well.

Wish I could say the 460 is the only one with the problem. Reading through the thread on the bioware site, some people with even some of the newest cards like the 580 are having problems. There's one guy on there with a 3-way SLI setup with three 580 cards (that guy must have alot of cash  :-X) and he's getting low fps. Most people have been ranging between 20 to 40 fps.

This problem also persists over into ATI. Overall there's definitely something not working right between the DX11 rendering and DA2.

something tells me I shouldn't have problems with european release :D
however, I'm not expecting it to work properly straight on, but to think they used the demo, and not use the reports from players at all into account is weird, usually when demo is out it's the first real way to test out the engine and stuff, problems reported from demo should have taken time to solve, they instead completely forgot about doing it, demo versions are like beta's, and should be treated as such.

aye, but that wasn't smart was it ?
perhaps game developers should release beta's more often, like Relic did with Retribution, dunno what specs do the devs comps have if they run DX11 smoothly while high end PCs have it choppy lol :D

Well that explains a lot, and DX11 looked pretty good on the previews...... DX9 on the demo was.... terrible.

AMD released a 11.4 Early Preview. It's supposed to improve the performance of HD 5000er with DA2.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

I'll probably wait until the xbox GOTY or ultimate edition. Then everything will be fine. Also elves will come to my house to make me tea in the mornings.

OK i'm playing this game for a while now, and I'm liking it so far, quite a lot too, battle system is a lot better than in the first game, no friendly fire, although both it's bad and good, I'm playing a Warrior 2 hander so I have Bethany in my party, and maker knows she is super awesome as a mage, Carver was an asshole but an honest one at least, a lot of quests line up all the time, had to do a lot of them before moving my story ahead, Visual aspect of the game is really good, and a good news is that I have yet to encounter a crash if at all, the entire engine is working brilliantly, advice for everyone, you don want all abilities cuz you have to sacrifice upgrades for them, and upgrades DO count actually.

Got Dragon Age 2 a few days back, I'm not sure if I like it better than origins yet or not. Regardless, it's fun :P

the difficulty level is imo way to low - i had to switch to nightmare to get my lovely friendly fire back. (i mean seriously - a giant fucking firestorm and you hit not even a single friend?) it might be that i'm just really good at exploiting stuff though :P

i'm currently in act 3 and have to admit that i'm slightly disappointed by the story - not that the story is bad, but because there is nothing in sight from the big announcements that your actions would greatly influence the outcome. i've played most of the main quests twice siding with a different faction only to reach exactly the same plot point - just with some names switched out.

another thing that bugs me is the combat. everything is fine as long as you only play a single char, but the second you need to control the whole group it becomes a nightmare - its like tending to a group of 6 year old running away in every direction. running into flame walls, moving in front of the enemy as a rogue, not assisting properly. in combination with the generally pretty low hp of every mob (quantity instead of quality -.- might + cleave + assail + bravery in a group of 8 enemies = instant death for some targets) this results in the need to pause the game every few seconds to move a dud or select a new target.

overall it's a good game though - just not as epic as i imagined.

I like the story more, and the focus on politics of all the different races rather than the OMGTHEYSOEVIL darkspawn.

I think the gameplay is quite dumbed-down, though.  In dragon age 1 you could create an ineffective party with bad stat/skill planning, I feel that in DA2 you could take literally any skill point you want and wind up with a decent char.

Okay so I played the game too... actually still playing it. The story is lovely, as BioWare made me used to with their nice games. Few things I noticed:
- difficulty is too low. very low. on "normal" I didn't even have to use a single health potion.
- rogue class is ... whoa... I mean, you can use them as tanks. Especially a double-weapon wielder with the Twin Fangs skill. It can handle any opponent head-on.
- night/day thing is awesome.
- is it just me, or with every new game BioWare releases there are more girls to choose from in your party? I think it was 2 in the first NWN game, and now they're more than half of the party options. [not that it bothers me... actually I like it].
- I miss the days when sword types came in more than 2 or 3 varieties.
- no DnD rules made the game mechanics A LOT simpler (I miss the days when leveling up would take more than 5 or 6 clicks and 30seconds of my time)

Overall, a pretty good game. Not better than the first Dragon Age. Not better than NWN or NWN2.

did someone count the number of locations used in the game? especially the interiors where horribly repeating.

it's still a game i really enjoyed - not reaching the heights of KotOR though :(
