freeform RP with good GM seems good.

Also, fantasy world is always the best, have like, classes and stuff (mage, warrior, blablabla)

oh, and like, no godmode, those get annoying.

eg

*Dude1 gets stabbed and dies

Dude1: Oh but you didn't know I HAVE SUPAH POWAHS

*Dude1 get's revived

stuff like that

I'm not a huge fan of RP, but an interesting one I used to watch occasionally when I passed by it was a survival RP. Players played themselves and had a sheet of items they had and ones that were used or broken or scratched up were crossed out. They also had statuses and attributes.

It wasn't fantasy at all, but more realistic.

I think it looked something like this:

Player: XX--XX
Items: Frying pan, knife, crowbar
Status: light fever

Player: YY--YY
Items: Rope
Status: Dog bite - not infected (Wounded)

I don't really RP. Just an idea tossing out.
One clever GM I guess.

I pretty much disagree, it's rather a matter of players and GMs being too unimaginative and always getting back the the same old templates. You can have similar mechanisms in different settings.

The overreliance on fantasy settings seriously puts me off when it comes to RP. It's fun to see how players complain about games getting derivative, while being responsible for it. They keep asking to be fed the same old stuff over and over again.

I like the idea of items because you can end up with random things like a broken light bulb or a wedge of cheese and have to come up with a way to use it in your quests.
