Would you be interested in a Play-By-Post RP?

<< < (12/18) > >>

undetz:
I'm in your roleplay, needing a good second line.

1000mAh:
ah'm in!

Proin Drakenzol:
I'm in. Can I hack the 'net with my MIND POWERS?!?!?

Seriously, though, I'm in.

JoonasTo:
Possibly.  ;)

Gah, for the lack of time.

I would rather not throw specific since I'm not done with it fully yet but I want to give you some idea of the world you're going to be wandering in.

The world is a fully urban planet with lots of layers on top of each other the lowest layers being completely submerged and more or less forgotten.
Each layer is different age with the highest layers being the newest and the lowest the oldest.
The layers are of different height depending on the architecture and the use of the layer at the place, service layers can only be made to fit cables, pipes, etc. while some layers might reach up high to accommodate cities with skyscrapers. You can expect anything from different layers.
The most common type of modern layer where common people live are shaped like apartment complexes with hallways going in circles crossing each other, the apartments are right next to each other along these hallways. Each "circle" is around a kilometer in radius and has it's own center where the regular services are available around a small park, this is also where the lifts to the train layers are.
The train system is the modern use of transportation by use train modules moving in vacuum tubes that circle under, around and through the layers. The trains are operated at maximum velocity being limited to comfortable acceleration and deceleration when humans are on board. There is a new module every 30 seconds on every line, except the emergency line that is left empty unless needed.

The communication and information networks are all hardwired into the structure and due to the materials used in building the layers wireless communications are useless after a single wall. The common areas all have wireless hubs connected into the hardwirings so a common person wouldn't know the difference. Most people have an implant behind their left ear that allows them to connect to the networks and receive sensory information as well as works as a locator and an indentificator. A mother can follow the stream from his children's implant when they are still under 13 years and they are allowed to access the locator data until they turn 17. After that the locator and stream are only allowed to be accessed by authorities in case of emergencies. Currently the implants only allow access to the authorities if the user is unconcious, dead or allows the authorities to gain access. The use of authority access to to the implants without consent or knowledge of the user is currently under heavy debate and has remained at a standstill for decades.
The use of implants has practically eliminated the need for money, external communication devices and computers and only a very small minority are without one.

The world is divided into three factions, The ULCU(United Layer's Citizen's Union), GreFac, and The Vandorian Confederation. The Vandorian confederation is the largest controlling around 40% of the modern Layers volume and around 40% of the topmost layer making it the second richest faction. The ULCU is the second largest with around 35% of the modern Layers volume and 50% of the topmost layer making it the richest faction. GreFac is the smallest controlling only 25% of the modern Layers volume and 10% of the topmost layer making it the poorest faction but it has significant holdings in the lower layers and it's history research keeps it on the level of the two bigger factions.

There is a huge need for energy to fuel all the systems and to create the needed materials through nuclear synthesis. This is achieved through use of solar energy and nuclear fusion from hydrogen separated from water. The amount of power a faction generates measures it's status in terms wealth. This is why the topmost layer counts most for faction's wealth while the lowest most ancient layers are worth next to nothing.(and also because no one wants to live there) There is something to be gained from the lower levels though, and that is, information and old technology. All the time people slowly move more and more skywards leaving old technology behind and slowly the lower levels crumble and the connections to their networks dwindle and die. Along with connections vanishes all the old information and technology no one bothered to copy over.(To give an example, the current world wouldn't know what combustion is, not to mention rock n' roll) The excavations and history research is dominated by the GreFac and that is it's lifeline to keeping it even with the two other factions so it's jealous in guarding it.

Little useless notes:
- The world is not earth
- Everyone speaks the same language
- People are vegetarians since no animal species exists anymore(doesn't hold true to the ancient levels)
- There are no dark skinned people
- Genetic and cybernetic modifications exist and you can have them but they are expensive and your common man wouldn't have them, only military and rich people.
- There are "gifted" people with powers, this is probably where you come in, however, the gifted are a resource of power for the faction and a source of danger for the society so they are taken in to the military by the faction they live in.
- Swords/bows are a viable choice of weaponry since your powers only extent to what you can touch. The battlegrounds will propably be rather limiting a lot of the time so guns won't have that much of an edge.
- You can be a common man if you want, however, it will put you at serious disadvantage

Questions to the interested:
How much anarchy do you want in?
How much fantasy do you want in?
What kind of campaing do YOU want?

I have a few campaigns stretched out but not yet specified so those would help me choose and limit it.

I will create a ingame thread dedicated to the game and a side thread for all the other bickering, character profiles, etc. when I've picked and fleshed out the campaign.
In the mean time, read this.

pingryanime:
lol, I remember when I would make every single one of those mistakes.

Also, we should have a certain writing style defined as the "norm". Eg, third person narrative, first person playwrite, etc etc

It keeps confusion and brainhurts at a minimum.

As for what you have atm, I like the idea :O But let me get this straight, so if you have super powers or something, you get taken in  by the military? Cuz I wanted electro powers (totally not influenced by Misaka, I swear xD)

As for your questions.

Anarchy: Enough to allow freedom, but not enough to let players cause complete havoc and justify if by saying something like, "Oh but it's an anarchy, I can do whatever~"

Fantasy: I don't want flying pink dragons that breath marshmallow fires, but I don't want a strictly realistic world like IRL. Like I said, I wanted to have electro powers.

Campaign? You mean like the overall plot/story to the RP? Anything with good and bad should work, assuming we're trying to make this an adventure type RP rather than a SoL RP.

Oh and if I can choose a char now... Could I just like, RP as Misaka from To Aru Kagaku no Railgun? I mean, come on, she's my life.
