Yes, and? I always wonder how much of this kind of detail gain you'll notice in motion. It's not an earth-shattering difference in image quality imo.

It's usually only encoders that enjoy the weeks long discussions about blocking/debanding/details with these kind releases...  :P
(kudo's to them, by the way)

About the subs: I would guess KAA also used the DVD subs, but you never know, maybe they did some work on them.

RedSuisei:
As far as my eyes are concerned, the difference is pretty obvious in screenshot, and while I haven't seen EtB's in motion, I'd guess that even in motion the difference can be pretty obvious. Note that not all scenes in anime are high motion ones, on scenes with low-motion or static scenes these artifacts will be more glaringly obvious. That's why x264 have CRF.

Fafner00:
KAA website:
Subtitles: R1 - Edited English Softsubs

(I found only that KAA add "honorifics" (only because I saw EtB release))

EtB: Softsub ASS (edited (maybe, I have no DVD R1) but they're not add mass of "honorifics" (maybe just punctuation added  :P))
Main styling:

Motion scenes... maybe make a .gif file  ??? :-X... well, 1th and 4th screens kind of "motion scenes"... Tell me what frame you want to see until I have both releases otherwise I have no idea except to dl and watch first episode...

macros74, where did you get this (from your upload):
" the ace pilot Lal'C (known as Lark in the KAA sub) "
??????
I clearly see Lal'C not Lark in KAA...

Really can't remember it anymore, it's an old upload. Must have read/seen it....  ;)

Anyway, my question was intended for my personal use; why should I replace the KAA release in my archive.
With regard to BakaBT I think you've probably already convinced the mods with the screens.  :P

Uhh... it looks considerably better. Probably a lot of detail gain in motion.
