Hey guys long time no post, soo i was out today look at rpgs to buy an or consider , so i went to GameStop to see what they had, and i also checked online at GameSpot! yet most of them are okay-ish, and some are Freaking amazing like Tactics Ogre on PSP, simply amazing just no Multi-player >,< but still a great game. So I'm wondering if theres anyone elss with my obsessiveness over rpgs that are classic and anime tastic!

the japs know the white man don't buy visual novels or rpgs unless its really japan and they feel brave.

also look at bakabts own gaming forum u don't see peep talk about visuals novels much or japan rpgs its 50%+ american titles

If they're like FFXIII, then no, I would hate to have more. (Hours of running through a straight line with very little environment changes... *snores*)

But if they're like Star Ocean, Xenogears, or Chrono Trigger, then I full agree having more! Hell, even Tales of Vespiria was pretty good.

And the lack of talk about Jrpgs is probably because most of them suck nowadays. (At least the ones that are released outside of japan do)

(Enchanted Arms, Resonance of Fate, FFXIII {Pls don't hate me}, Magna Carta 2 to name a couple)

I'd rather see more western RPGs so I voted for that. JRPG is just not my cup of tea I guess.

I voted no. When they catch up on releasing on their films over here they can start on the JRPGs again. The only one I'm actually interested in right now came from Korea anyway so pffft

When they make a game that's as addicting as Pokemon (Red, Blue, Silver, Gold) on consoles or on PC... I will buy it. But nope, I will continue to play my RPGs emulator style.

Seen as how derivative they've become, no thanks. I'll stick to the oldies, and I've got quite some back catalogue on PC.

Agreed. If they make 10 games, then one tends to be great and well worth playing. Not all of these are ported. :/ While some of the poorer ones are ported.

I want them to develop a proper "shit your pants scary" sort of game. Many of the newer ones are emo at best, Dead Space tried, at least it succeeded to have a decent play system unlike condemned. The grizzly was more like a Stephen Colbert parody than anything scary.

But some of the earlier ones like silent hill... those were actually somewhat traumatizing scary sort of. Probably due to difficult game mechanics... but still far scarier imo in idea than many current games.

Maybe startled a bit when caught by surprise, but I can't remember any game ever scaring me.

The trick of getting scared (at least the only thing that works on me) is not blood or gore, neither is it some monsters jumping in front of you. It's the atmosphere that can make a game and a movie for that matter really scary. In a game as soon as you have weapons, it is hard to scare you, so Dark Descent fixes that by not giving you weapons. Being helpless in a terrifying atmosphere is what scares most people nowadays.

Yep, I toyed around with Penumbra for a bit. It was interesting, but too Myst like for me. Amnesia was fun, but still too close to penumbra for my tastes... I got annoyed at the controls from time to time. Good controls, but at times they wouldn't go through properly for me for whatever reason.

RE4 was the last one that actually gave me chills. That was a great one. The wii port was damn good too. If they extended that, it would have been even better. (Not to say it wasn't already really good) Fucking regenerators... freaky looking fuckers.

RE5 was lame.

Fatal frame nights used to be fun too.
