Decided to go for hard mode: only anime characters. Otherwise, House would be my medic and Data would be the brains.

Gendo: shrewd pragmatist who is always prepared and doesn't afraid of anything. Follow your orders and there will not be a problem.
Teresa: anyone who has watched/read Claymore will understand that attacking this woman is a bad idea.
Revy: frequently demonstrates her proficiency with and extensive knowledge of nearly every type of firearm.
Yang Wen-li: if this man is your strategist, you will win. He might not always be sober or motivated, but you will win.
Sawyer: extensive anatomical knowledge + chainsaw = appropriate.
Claire Stanfield: it was either him or Hei from DtB. Settled for the Rail Tracer for the sake of variety. He will dodge any attack and give you a nastier one in return.
Mao: the practical man's mascot - amusing talking animal disguising a rational and tactically formidable mind.
K-On! cast member: no point in hating anyone, so pick someone whose death will be most enjoyable or soul-crushing to watch.

After Shinji and Asuka, some other humans [specifically, the main cast who form my zombie survival team and probably others] manage to will themselves back into singular existence, separate from their unified state as LCL - but the others, with insufficient strength of will to return in their normal state, instead somehow return as zombies. It is later revealed that one exceptionally powerful will, one that could not be contained by one body, has willed all of the weak personalities into existence with a hive mind. This one being is actually Adam, who is wicked-pissed about Shinji killing the angels [his children] and fucking up the human instrumentality project - essentially preserving the race of demons [us, akin to Lilith]. The hive mind can only retain so much of a grip on each being, however, giving each the individual mentality of a zombie. Basically, these husks begin to systematically devour the living in order to capture Shinji and slap him.

Furthermore, it turns out that yoma are actually angels/ancestor beings that hunted the demons [humans] long before second impact and all of that shit. When Lilith/Rei returned humanity to its unified, homogeneous state as LCL, all souls were collected as one substance and as such people from the past - like Teresa, the Rail Tracer and anyone else who comes from a story set many years before that of Evangelion - can return, because souls are eternal! So it even explains how my team can exist. It makes perfect sense.

Hahaha, I know, I just wanted to include a ridiculous backstory. That's a pretty good team you've got there. Shinji would be happier if he was dead anyway. Well, either that, or he simply wouldn't notice the difference.

And if we're going to have gainax bouncing, I should really swap Revy for Eda.

Alucard (Hellsing) - Biggest badass ever.
Oberoth (Asura/Replicator Leader; Stargate Atlantis) - Lantean tech with workers that don't need to eat or sleep and can't be turned into zombies.
Supreme Commander Thor - Always good to have an Asgard around.
Cylon Resurrection Hub - Why not? I'm sure one of the Asgard can make it work for us too.
Goku (Super Saiyan 4) - no explanation needed
Adria (Ori; Stargate SG-1) - Extremely powerful ascended being.
