Yeah well kinda forgot to post this when it was really new but for those who have missed it.

Your Grandma's generation was right ORAL SEX is dirty and it will give you disease.

http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/oral-sex-causing-oral-cancer-rates-to-rise-studies/

In short the article explains how researchers in the USA have discovered a 200%+ increase in oral cancer since the 70's.
Further research established that the vast majority 64% of these cancers where casused by human papilloma virus ( the cancer type that causes cervical cancer in women ).  :o

Hence the title ...... Who would have though Granny was actually right ...... it is dirty and you will catch something by doing it.  ::)

This majorly torpedoes 70% of my bedroom game ......... dunno what i'll do from now on ........ get her pissed and hope she passes out  ........ then give here a conspiratorial wink in the morning and a "wow that was awesome ... your the bomb, chick"  ;D

Hmmmmm am not entirely sure that both of you have full grasped the issue ......... if am understanding correctly.

HPV gets from the vagina to the mouth mostly of men or lesbians/bi's via oral sex, with small chance of immediately transmission to the partner after oral sex due to kissing.

Penis's can also carry HPV thats how most women get infected with it.

if the mouth becomes infected with HPV, ( which many mouths apparently are ) then you can get infected via kissing  :o

I imagine the only people fully safe from the issue are homosexual men whom themselves and partners have never had sex with a woman.

But do not despair too much the solution is for EVERYONE males and females to be given the HPV vaccine that some girls get. So we aren't really looking at an oral doomsday scenario.

To to sum it up, all forms of sex are a source of transmission for HPV and therefore cause an increased risk of cancer. Guess it's time for all to get abstinent  ::)

Sure, we'll get extinct but at least we won't die of cancer  ;D

www.lifesitenews.co m

Anything more to say ?  ;D

Ok maybe i quoted a bad link was just the 1st i spotted when i searched .......... the research seems sound and reliable i 1st heard the item reported on BBC Radio 4  and a BBC documentary has been screened on national TV too .... this is not bible belt science at work.

I question the article's credibility to be honest.

Based on what ...... actual fact or incredulity at the news that we all may have put ourselves at risk, whilst thinking we where safe.  ::)
I question that you did any personal research before glibly replying.

Check these links ......... go find more there are dozens.

If either of you had checked further prior to attempting a rebuttal ......... you'd have found these links or others like them.
Trust me i don't WANT it to be true either ............ but it looks like it is.

As stated previously VACCINATION will have to be the way forward ......... i decent vaccination programme and we can all go back burying our faces and filling our mouths with whatever we like  ;D

If oral sex were to be a serious cause for cancer, then the rate would be blowing (pun intended) out the roof, as mankind is practising it for quite a time already ... a couple of millenia at least.

I kinda doubt we discovered oral sex only 40 years ago.

Did you check the links ....... especially the BBC one ??
If anyone can find a source more credible than the BBC thats refutes this research PLEASE post it ........ i'd love it to be debunked.

I did, and this single line

so too has evidence for a new cause of the disease.
is the base of my previous post

Oral sex is anything but 'new', if it were to play a significant role in the spread of cancer then it would be way more widespread than you can possibly imagine. There's no need for medical hocus-pocus, just a bit of common sense to come up with that conclusion. If there's really a correlation, why has that evolution stepped in only in the last 30 years, even though oral sex has been practised for much longer ?

I guess the next step will be to state that giving a pearl necklace causes skin cancer ?

Yeah 'common sense' has an awesome track record in scientific terms doesn't it ...... sun rotates around earth ........ earth is obviously flat ....... babies come entirely from a seed planted by men ........ smells obviously create diseases .... etc, etc .....

Great. Another fucking vaccination. It's not like I haven't had three already this week -_-

At least that way its another problem that just goes away .......... better than the alternatives.

EDIT: Don't doublepost....

So... oral sex increases the risk of oral cancer because of some virus that gets transmitted. Yeah, I can believe that.

It follows that vaginal sex increases the risk of vaginal cancer, also of cancer of the penis.
It further follows that anal sex increases the risk of rectal cancer, also of cancer of the penis.

In sum one can say that sex increases the risk of cancer induced by aforementioned virus.

But seriously, what's the news in this story? That grandma needs to get laid?

@Guru Zeb : I think you're missing the point, the problem isn't to avoid possible transmission -oral sex- but to treat the source -HPV-.

Had you searched a bit more about HPV, then you would know contact of almost any type of contact with another human being is a potential source of transmission. Oral sex isn't more risky than anything else we're doing in our daily life.

I see nothing more than basic fearmongering here, keep the people sacred and they'll accept anything. Besides, where does the stupid idea life can be safe come from ?

It isn't, never was and never will be.

In sum one can say that sex increases the risk of cancer induced by aforementioned virus.

Eros and Thanatos, sex and death combined. That's an imagery that has been used for a quite a while

At least read an article before posting glib nonsense m8 .......... not all tissue types are at risk obviously some cancers only affect certain types of tissue thats why men carry the HPV on the penis but don't suffer from it there.

As far as granny getting laid ....... am all for everyone getting laid personally.

no offence but get lost m8 ........ i stated several times VACCINATION pretty much ends the problem.
The title was kind of a joke ...... thought most on here sophisticated enough to take the humour.  ::)

Still waiting for the article that debunks this as a factual piece of research ............ ;D

Show you didn't look well into the matter yourself, HPV can affect any type of issue depending on the strain

no offence but get lost m8

I'm putting myself on your level dude.

Kinda like

1) scientist says 'boo wee, sucking dick gives cancer' 2) people go running in circles 'oh noes, we're gonna die'

As for now, the studies mentionned a 'possible correlation'. Now answer my question, if that correlation exists for real ... why has increase gotten noticeable only in the last 30 years, even though both HPV and oral sex are as old as mankind ?

A couple of millenia should've been enough to push sexually transmitted HPV related cancer as main source of mortally for mankind.

obviously the strain that can affect penis's is pretty rare since its not a common cancer ..................
