As far as the battery life and other technical concerns go, I trust wiki on this:

3D   3-5 hours, depending on screen brightness, Wi-Fi, sound volume, and 3D effect
(1300 mAh)

-5-8 hours for DS compatibility mode

So am I the only one that's disgusted at the battery life? Even the original DS had a battery life of 6-10 hours which would easily last you a flight or a road trip. The only reason why I'm hating is not because the games, or the 3D, or how massively bulky it is... it how badly the battery lasts. 5 hours charge kills the portability because on my DSi, I can play online with a max charge at an internet cafe or on campus for hours, and still have enough charge to last me the rest of the night playing anywhere in my home.

Let me tell you though, it's the same mistake they did you with original DS... it looked ugly, it was too big, battery life wasn't as good as the Gameboy Advance (which clocked in at 15 hours on one battery set or charge, depending on the difference of the SP model). Yet the DS lite came out with an impressive 15-19 hours on a single charge. So I refuse to buy this current 3DS coming out.... I will however buy the 3DS lite (or i, whatever they want to name their updated model) because it WILL have the battery life of the older DS models... I just gotta wait a year and a half.

I agree, hence why I won't be buying one, at least near the launch. It's pretty inconvenient to have a portable device, only to be having to charge it constantly.

Some prefer it for the buttons & ergonomics (edges are more rounded than on Lite) though.

Yeah, those some either had really big pockets, or had some other carrying device with them to store the DS in. I can barely fit my DSi in my pocket as of now along with my BB and wallet... imagine trying to fit a 3DS. lol

It's actually pretty much the same size as a regular DSi or Lite.
