I actually broke down and bought it at launch in black. I picked up The Sims 3 so my wife would have something to play but the built-in games are actually pretty nifty and are a great way to kill time. The battery life is, well, poor TBH but that doesn't really affect me in any way. There are already aftermarket battery packs available for it but I think the "wait and see" approach sticks to me with those. I don't really travel much and have a ton of outlets in my home, so it's not so big a deal. I can see how it's a definite turn-off for those who want their portables to be portable though.

My g/f got it at launch and I spent some time with the system and frankly I'm unimpressed. The background is a pseudo-3D type. Really all it is, is a multi-layered back drop that gives the appearance of a 3D unit. That aside, the controls are nice, but coming from the DS Lite myself, I like the placement for the stylus on the side because its easier to get to and easier to put away versus the slot being behind the screen like the 3DS.

I played a bit of the Street Fighter 3DS and I dislike parts of the game right from the get go. I'm a fan of the series but the 3DS version is definitely a more casual gamers version than the 360 ones or earlier.

I will give the 3DS credit, it has good sound and the the device itself fits wonderfully in my big hands (unlike the PSP which is hard to hold when pressing certain buttons). Despite my problems with the 3D part of the device, I think the graphics are great but I'm unsure if its any better from the DSi or DS Lite versions (I don't see much difference).

I certainly don't feel this device was worth buying at launch, which is why I'm glad my g/f paid for it and not me

Nintendo's consoles are weak, easily emulated (Emulation kills their business). Not worth buying. Some DS games are great but I don't use my DS these days, I sold my Wii after beating RE4 and Fatal Frame 4. Nintendo wants to suck money from you every 5 years and they make sure they will be the one to release a portable console first.

My brother has one and god, the 3d is terrible. You have to hold it a certain way, if it moves, the effect is broken.

Seeing as it has better gfx than the DS, I really want it when the next pokemon game comes out. Yet, it's way too expensive for me.
Oh well, I'll just have to wait for the emulator, I guess.

I don't get why everyone whine about the battery life, i'm not bothered. i can fire my 3DS and play Pokèmon at 12 and play til 5 with 25% battery left.
The 3D is kinda trippy in the beginning and you'll probably get a light headache but after a while you'll get used to it.

The only minuses is; the cameras are shitty and THE 3DS HAS NO GAEMS!

That's why it will be better to wait until at least a Pokemon or Advance Wars or Fire Emblem game has come out to buy one... plus better battery life.

I would gladly use some other form of currency and convert it... but then it would alienate the other people who don't use that currency. So I will just use my own currency unless it's relevant to convert it.

At the cost here in Canada, I think it's $250 - substantially more than the Wii - I think I would prefer to buy... well, a 360 comes to mind. Or buying the PSP and getting a few games for around the same cost.

More importantly, how long 'til the 3DS gets some nifty revamp that raises the cost and makes me feel like a moron for being an early adopter? I'm just glad I never considered upgrading to the DSi.

It's still the best system ever though.

Actually, it would be typical European to enter the US as their country since USA is the financial (even though they aren't) and entertainment capital of the world.

(I'm not saying that 5000 people have done this but a good 100 might).

In Norway we have a company selling mobile cells and stuff who uses a sheep who talks "American" and it's apparantly it is working because those commercials have been on for 3-4 years.

Over here anything American is automatically cool, just look at the music.

Whaaa? I'm sorry, I like living in the US... best shit here isn't good. All the new music is crap compared to older (90's and back) music, our cars suck ass (once again, were only good back in the day), new houses suck (you can see houses swaying in mild wind)... hell, even our corporations suck.

Reason being, Obama gives tax breaks to large corporations to let them make more jobs... what do they do? Lay off more people... If it wasn't for the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and the 21st amendment... this country would SUCK.

That USA is the coolest country in the world is the mainstream societys view, i'm mildly anti-America because it disgust me how much influence "you" have on the rest of the world when what you're contributing is worthless, every big movie is American (except a few British ones), 95% of mainstream music comes from the US and kids my age eat that shit up.
At school we're taught both American-English and conventional English and no one chooses to go with the English accent because it's lame and "American" is so cool.

Needless to say, when i speak English, i speak proper English.

America is no where near the coolest country (I think all of us here will agree that any Asian country is 10 times cooler). I personally think this country is being ruined by the rich... some statistic came out saying that 400 of the richest people in America own as much wealth as 150 million middle class American citizens... only 400? Compared to 150 million?!

I'm with you, America has no culture... or at least naive culture.

Mainstream society views America as the most awesome country in the world ( I don't), at least in Europe.

And as for you not thinking so, of course, anime isn't actually mainstream so us having Japan etc. as a favourite country is natural. And Americans would disagree with this too but any European would see what i mean.
