No, for 3DS games. NDS games last somewhat longer.

its ok ive only bought 2 handheld systems too.
Greenscreen  gameboy (still have and still works) and the fold in half one(lost it or it got stolen dont know which)

It's a bit of a gimmick honestly. The hardware isn't much different from a regular DSi or DSi XL, plus most of the games that are coming to the 3DS are also gonna have DS releases as well. I think one of the few titles that won't dual release is Zelda OoT (cause you'd need the thumb stick to play the game)... I just got myself the DSi + Pokemon Black bundle. Enjoying myself some Pocket Monsters. :D

That's like saying PS3 hardware isn't much different from a PS2.

The last handheld I owned was ~12 years ago, maybe a bit more. So I choose that I am not interested. ^^
