My go to dark beer. It's mild enough to kick back a sixer in an evening(and at only 7.2pct, I'm not going to have a hangover the next day), but the balance is definitely skewed towards hops.
If I want something to sip on, I'll go with Dogfish Head's Palo Santo Marron or Great Divide's Oak Aged Yeti. British stouts are completely unsatisfying after having had some of the better stouts, strong ales, and heavy browns from American microbreweries, Belgian breweries, and Eastern European breweries.
For something a little lighter, I really like Boulevard's Tank 7. It's considerably hoppier than most Saisons, avoiding the syrupy, medicinal taste American attempts at that style tend to have.
My favorite lager is the Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Urbock, although I've been unable to find any rauchbier in Houston. Maybe I'll be able to find the Flying Dog Dog Shwarz if I look hard enough.
My favorite style though, is the Belgian IPA. Flying Dog's Raging Bitch has been a lifesaver this year at about $8 per six pack, but I still would rather have the real thing - Piraat or Houblon Chouffe.
am I the only one who doesnt like beer..?? it tastes like piss.. I can only drink half a 0.33 beer and then it starts to taste bad..
Sounds like you've only ever had Lager. There's a ridiculous number of varieties of beer, Lager is brewed as quickly as possible to remove as much taste from it for people who want to get drunk but are too wussy to crack open a bottle of scotch.
And it's obvious you have no fucking clue what lagering means. Go drink a bottle of Samichlaus.
