Heineken, Carlsberg, Urquell, Ringnes and lager beer of various small brands/small breweries. Can't remember them all.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Heineken

I never understood the appeal of it, it's one of the things I hated each time I went out to a party in Holland (the other being their curfew) ... it's like goddamn overpriced water.

It's in my category as "everyday beer", which you drink as a refreshment. Besides I am sure that bottled water in Norway costs more than beer in Holland, so don't tell me about it being overpriced water  ;D

Also I suspect that Heineken I buy here is slightly better, because it's a common thing that export versions are always better.

I'm writing these down - LOL
Some of those may be hard to find if you're in the US. The ales are all English (nobody else really does them right imo), Lager is Jamaican, Indian and Polish respectively and some of those Belgian beers are hard to find in Belgium :P

Didn't hear about Frulis but can guarantee I could get this without too much trouble as for the rest they get sold in most supermarkets in Belgium
Only hard to get is the "West-Vleteren'  Trappist bier as their is a limited stock brewed by the monks and they just sell it at their abbey (it has been awarded best beer in the world some time ago btw)

i am partial towards Hoegaarden.  the Europeans don't fuck around when it comes to beer crafting.   :)
Their Belgian white is the only kind I've seen in local stores in my area. I definitely recommend it.

Hoegaarden (and the Hoegaarden brewery)  is named after the town it is brewed (and is famous for making "witbier" ('white beer') since the 15th century: Hoegaarden (Belgium)

We Belgians don't fuck around when it comes to beer crafting :P

Which style of Hoegaarden do you recommend?

I would go for the original (try putting the glasses in the freeze and aftwerwards add a slice of lemon btw, something very common' in our region), my grandparents swore by it.

Grand Cru is nice and different but inferior to the original ...  my parent's have a restaurant/tea-room and that variant didn't quite sell well and thus I ended up drinking the unsold crates so I guess you can say i'm quite experienced with it :P

Rosé isn't anything special, don't waste your time on itl

It's in my category as "everyday beer", which you drink as a refreshment. Besides I am sure that bottled water in Norway costs more than beer in Holland, so don't tell me about it being overpriced water  ;D

Your from Norway? Then I understand ... my parents went quite a lot on vacation with a full-loaded trunk of booze and had their hosts eye-goglin' when they saw how much alcohol they used to prepare food. I don't know if it still holds true but alcohol is quite expensive in Norway isn't it? Then I guess high alcohol percentage beers aren't that common

Maybe I'm in a way spoiled as everyday beer for me is Jupiler, Maes Pils, Stella Artois (Yes I know it get's marketed as Luxury beer internationally but in Belgium it's just plain ordinary beer...)  which are way better and waaaaay cheaper than Heineken..

Also I suspect that Heineken I buy here is slightly better, because it's a common thing that export versions are always better.

I wouldn't bet on it with beer... although I don't knew if Heineken get's brewed outside of Holland (which can make a difference in quality)

BTW: For the beer-lovers who aren't lightweights and like to experiment:

It tends to quite live up to it's name *g*

Fun fact: Up until three years ago we had something callled "'t Ostends Bierhuis" ("Ostend Beer House) were you could drink approx. 200 different beers from Belgium, we might be a small country but we ain't beer-country for nothing heh

Dutch Curfew? Are you sure it was Holland? Because parties usually last from 2200 till 0700 (at which point everyone is so drunk you cant call it a party anymore because everyone is either sleeping or being so incredibly high on weed you can call them asleep - mentally)

I went a few times to Eindhoven (Redzone @ Effenaar) and I clearly remember everybody being on the streets going home @ 3am because everything was closing, with cops on horses on patrol through the streets and such... I have to admit I never went out anywhere else in Holland but for some reason I was under the impression this was a national thing (apparently not :p)

Here in California all the clubs and bars close at 2am on the dot.
And even though we feel dead inside, we can still say, "At least we tried."

Finland, capitol area.
Man I was as surprised as you are when I moved here. Where I used to live it was 6pm at earliest, usually between 8pm and 10pm.
Then I moved here and was like what? All open at 9am wtf? Then I take a few days to just walk around the city and 06-04. I stare at it for a while and phone my cousin(who happens to live in the nearby area), pretty much went like this:
"WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE HERE?"
"Huh?"
"6am, 6 A fucking M!"
"Yup"
"Man you people are weird..."
"So are you buying?"
"Yeah"

Because we can!
