whats even more hilarious is that Yukiastu has been popping up the most Yandere flags this season
LOL!

I can totally picture that.  At the end, when they're all by the tree and can see Menma, Yukiatsu pulls out a knife, kills Jin... "Now we can be together FOREVER Menma!"

Anyways, I am shocked at how good this show is at making me cry.  It's even better than After Story at that.  It was able to make me cry by like episode 3, and by 11 I just couldn't anymore.  Best show of the season, by far.

This one goes in the face of all the nay-sayers who claim anime has gotten bad recently.  Still amazing shit coming out.

Few notes from UTW. Will put in first post but read it in the spoilers. If you haven't watched the whole series, do not open the spoiler:

This one is FINISHED and Stein Gate is 13/26, so I'd go with this one.

I don't typically start animes that aren't finished.  I want everything fresh in my mind as I'm going through it, story-wise and character development wise.

Only exceptions are mindless anime with no important story, or anime that just use story as an excuse for ecchi situations.

wow lotta posts since i posted here a few days back, looks like it wraped up.I skimmed a few of the pages but stoped because people were putting spoilers in regular text damnit! Not cool.

I initially asked if this was a depressing series, since im still trying to avoid anything super tragic or depressing after the whole Phantom thing. At the time of my question, several of you told me; no, its not really a depressing, overly dramatic series.... yet. Now that its done, can you still say that? I saw a LOT of people saying they cried their fucking eyes out at the end which has me concerned =P I dont want another weekend of sleepless nights after finishing this up if its just a horribly tragic downer, especially in the closing minutes.

So should this be avoided for a bit longer if i dont want anything really depressing, or can I go ahead and dive into it? Ive been itching to watch it, its rated through the roof on ADB and i hear its one of the best shows of the season

BTW, if i was gonna watch this, then i think i wanted to squeeze it into anime night before my buddy takes off for college in a little over a month. If thats the case i dont have the time to compare multiple groups as i had planned. I had d.loaded some of M.3.3.W and some of UTW to compare... have you guys compared them? Which is the better group? Im usually content with either one, i was wondering if one is better than the other for this show. I saw several people singing UTW's praises earlier. Hopefully i can get a clear winner here for that because, like i said, if im gonna try to squeeze this in for anime night i cant really start comparing them

I'll be waiting on some feedback. I guess if i dont get to watch this for anime night i'll try to finish up Valkyria Chronicles which we stalled on months ago when my computer died. It was pretty good so far, but not amazing.. However, i kinda wanted one of the last shows he watched to be a really excellent series, and im thinking this may fit that bill

^_^x KD

It is not depressing, the ending is satisfying. If you marathon it, there is no cause for concern.

I've nothing to add to the conversation. if i'd say i cried like a baby in this i'd just be restating what's been said already.

Is it depressing?  No.

Is it tragic?  No.  The anime tells you what the tragedy is 5 minutes into the first episode, Menma is dead.  Chances are you will figure it out before the anime comes out and says it, too.

Will it make you cry?  Abso-fucking-lutely.

The reason I don't consider it tragic is because tragedy to me in anime is when the anime is building you up, trying to get you attached to characters and then kills one of the characters it gets you attached to.  It always feels like a cheap shot to me.

This show goes the other way, they show you this little girl who died young and then get you attached to her by showing how all the people who had relationships with her interacted with her while she was alive and how important she still is to them going into high school.  It's kind of amazing how they turned the norms I used to consider "tragedy" on their head.

So I guess maybe it is tragedy?

^ happy tragedy (what)? i feel like the ending was pretty happy.

also, this just reminds me. what's that bell thing they ring here called?
it's often heard when characters exaggeratedly "die".

More like, recovery from tragedy, in more than one way, and in more that for just those kids. Menma's brother has impressed me, so young and so brave, but that could be because he never really got to know his sister.
