to be honest i don't buy the whole - i have an avatar of a chick because im a guy and i like girls.
i just make avatars from artworks i like.

I don't hate guys, I simply don't like looking at them. A guy could be an excellent character but that does not mean I wanna look at his ass every time I come to the forum.

well; i made the mistake of arguing my point in an unattended vague, circuitous manner.  i believe it is bad to label, assume or generalize anything.   sure it we were conducting a quick survey we may assume most peoples avatars are something/someone they are sexually attracted to in at least an unconscious way (anybody up for a loli?) but to assume that is true for everyone is ridiculous.   i.e well every dude whom has a male avatar is gay or every female whom has a female avatar is a lesbian is a bit much imo.   oh yeah; they aren't any girls on the internet...  hehe  oh wait except for kurandoinu.   personally when i see an avatar i am just thinking whether i like the art or not.

re: PSO..  i neglected to mention that there was a lot of backlash at the time regarding players using opposite sexed avatars.   who cares if have 5 characters and 3 are girls..

Try looking at other stuff by Shaft, or perhaps the experimental animation, outstanding backgrounds, visually stunning, or unusual artwork tags, depending on what exactly it was you liked.

Thanks man, I had tried before to find exactly what I should use as a keyword for finding my kind of anime. The thing that decides whether or not I will try to watch an anime or continue watching one, is the style that the people are drawn. Even if an anime has a great story and everyone recommends it, I will not watch it if the style annoys me. One example of this is Voices of a Distant Star If you watch it, you will see what I mean.

nothing, it is just that so many people here speak some kind of non-american english, it is kinda cool to find someone who is american.

Mainly a girl avy because they're easier to find, plus I don't mind seeing Misaka or another girl when I post. I have had guy avies such as Hei, but I never tend to look hard enough to find such good ones for guys..

Well, I have a male avi now for the first time... aside from a gif I used once.
I did it for the reason temuchin pointed out earlier. I liked the art. I guess you never know when a pic (or in this case, a panel from a manga.) will strike you.

So I suppose it doesn't always have to be a pretty girl =p
