I love gg, will continue to follow their trolls. They will not be the reason why I drop this series... it will be the series itself. For an action series, it is pathetically dull and predictable.

This series is so terrible it hurts.

I watched it with a group of people on livestream (gg subs played of course) and oh my god. This shit is terrible. It's fun to watch it with others and make fun of it, but people watch this for real? hooooly shitttt

(click to show/hide)If they wanted to use Sherlock Holmes/Lupin as a theme, they should have made it a mystery anime - for the most part we've just seen repetitions on the Speed movie franchise mixed with Toradora. It's a confusion of genera... besides suddenly deciding Kinji is Watson?

Really? This was not a mystery show? A show about armed detectives, who search for the identity of an unknown killer is not mystery? I'll agree that the antagonist made herself known a bit too easy and that clues to her identity were sparse, but I think the whole action setup was part of the plan and that people have been focusing on that way too much. Plus, the fact that it has two main characters whose voices have appeared together in another (well-known) anime has apparently made it hard for people to see them in any other way than the obvious (even if they will probably end up together, as lovers). This is why I hate comparing one show to another, especially if they're completely unrelated and the only common thing is the studio who made them and the people voicing (some of) the characters.

--- Quote ---They really didn't need to do it, they had perfectly adequate, if somewhat predictable and mediocre story-line already.

It's still the same storyline, it just went in a direction you didn't anticipate, but wasn't completely unexpected.

Calling people detectives doesn't make them so, you have to actually do detective-like things to accomplish that. They weren't searching for the identity of the killer, the killer was leading them directly to her at record speed, and then explained herself like a hackneyed Bond villain, with a pretty dumb-ass motive too. Nothing was deduced or examined or explained by anyone.  Besides, what does  mass murdering serial bombing and rigging weapons to automated vehicles have to do with being-a phantom thief? I don't remember that in Lupin III. It certainly didn't have much to do with her stated goal. Why not just sidle up next to Aria and shoot her brains out, instead of massively impractical and insane shenanigans?

It wasn't like the action part has been a distraction, for the most part that's been the show - save the love comedy - so yes, I'm surprised they put a twist so early without really being able to establish a reasonable ground for it. Nor did they really put any significance behind the shocking revelation of a character who's had next to no screen time and who I barely knew the name of.

As for calling it Toradora, it wouldn't matter if the voice actors and studio were completely different - it's not like that's the reason I make the connection, the character designs and their relationship are too similar to pass it off as mere coincidence - the studio's decisions in picking their voice actors just reinforces it. It's the effect they want to have on the audience, because they know that it works and it's far easier than being original.

And using twin-tails as weapons? What is she, Yami from To Love-Ru?

Havoc10K:
I'm starting to feel bad for Rie, but she just does her work, although I fear this show will give her a better experience at how badly a manga can be adapted, from what I read, there were quite a few changes, although I am not reading the manga.

I am only watching this show because of Rie at the moment, also Rikko was cute enough to keep me there, I guess if they didn't make this a laughing stock it could have been better.

I rarely drop a show and this hasn't done anything to make me drop, I'm nearly halfway so i'll finish, but I wish they would drop the towel and start doing things a bit more seriously, then it has a real potential, cuz there is plenty for it.

Why, I suspect she's very well payed for all she does.

Besides, when she has good writing she's excellent, like with Kagura or Nagi,
