Author Topic: Anime with Wolves or Dragons as main theme (Read 3864 times)

Hey there guys,

A friend of mine wants to know if there are anime out there that have either Wolves or Dragons as the main theme or anime with them as prominent characters. He doesn't want anime with human personification of wolves or dragon (eg. wolfgirls like Horo from Spice and Wolf).

The only anime I could think up were Princess Mononoke and Tales of Earthsea. :S He's after anime with wolves that is more like Princess Mononoke.

Only thing I can think of is Spice and Wolf, but it looks like that won't do... Though to be fair, Horo wasn't a human personification, that was just her human form. She actually does take her wolf form several times.

Oh... I don't watch it, but... is Naruto in that category? I think he's really a 9 tailed fox or something... I don't really know anything about it since I never watched it. But, I'm guessing he probably has some sort of transformation as well.

edit: Oh... Dance in the Vampire Bund had werewolves... but probably not what you're looking for. You probably don't want stuff like Kanokon or Strike Witches either.

Thanks guys. My friend doesn't mind human forms and stuff but he would prefer just animal forms.

Any other suggestions?

Kemono no Souja Erin has dragon-like beasts.

Does Brave Story have dragons? Can't remember, but I guess it wouldn't be main theme anyway.

Yes Brave Story has dragons towards the end but they are not a major part of the story.

Sands of Destruction - One in the enemy group is a human form dragon.
Escaflowne - Both real and semi mechanical dragons, the real have a fairly small role in the series and are not present in the movie.
Dragon Century - Have not seen but looks like what he wants.

Slayers Try has Dragons in it and even a Dragon Girl

Like Alchemyst already wrote, Wolfs Rain is realy enjoyable and is very "Wolf heavy"

Dragon Crisis just finished and it has a whole bunch of dragon girls. A wolf girl, too, actually.

+1 Sands of Destruction (Sekai Bokumetsu no Rokunin), too. The female antagonist is a dragon girl.

Dog Days is just starting. I haven't watched it at all yet, but it might be something to keep your eyes on.

Princess Ressurection (Kaibutsu Oujou) has a werewolf girl.

Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama Tachi has a somewhat wolf-like girl (her name means wolf), though they had her use cat accessories for irony or something. I'm not sure if she counts or not.

EDIT: Almost forgot Inuyasha! Yeah, it really dragged on there for a while with all those upgrade arcs... but they did finally give it a decent ending.
