More powerful than Xbox360 or PS3 means nothing to me. PS2 was the shit. Both aforementioned consoles were also units that spec wise blew the pants off the PS2. I found many games moreso than the PSX and PS2 era lacking in soul and focusing on superficial things like graphics. Don't get me wrong... I like graphics. But overall, it felt like the soul of gaming went into hibernation.

I would hate a touchscreen controller. No feeling IMO. Amalgamate the two, there's a possibility there... but not solely touchscreen.

I agree with every sentiment. The gaming scene seems to have turned to the power of the engine and the graphics capabilities over the actual enjoyment of the game. Then again, I've always been an RPG player, not so much a player of FPS games.

It's not me - it's you.

personally I feel like right now we are given those great looking games and stuff, but with time, where BluRay drives will become as omnipresent as DVD drives right now (CDs are still popular for music and stuff but you will likely not find a sole CD-writer anymore, probably) so with the complete adaptation of the BluRay drives, perhaps then we will finally get games that are not only beautiful in visual fashion, but also are giving us loads of real deep story and gameplay. Although that is how I feel about it personally, it might take quite a while, but perhaps that is how it must be.

Next generation formats are still in development by Sony and other third parties that are supporting them. Just like how they did it with PS1 (CD), PS2 (DVD), PS3 (Blu-ray) so we'll see what PS4 will have. WTB 500 gig format!

PS4 would likely have to use holographic graphics, if i'm not mistaken, writing a holo disk actually does require you to have around 300-500 gigs of space fo say a few hours of game experience, that would mean real 5D games and movies... oh I already see the lines at psychologists office with kids lined up with reality distortion syndromes of all levels.

Has there been a game that used the full blu-ray size?

not to my knowledge, but I don't play PS3 games yet, a full bluray is like 50-60 gigs am I right ? are there dual layers on that ? if so that's like around 120 gigs data disk, I only use the 35 gig ones cuz they are acceptably cheap, although I saw 50 gig ones for 11 euros, sounds cheap so i'll just watch it, the company that made it is unknown to me so I'll pass.

Yea... because it's possible for a game to be more than 3D.  ::)
4D is all time at once, btw. 5D is all possible timelines from the same start.

Because I feel like it.

well, 4D is all good, but in 5d you can pause the game, and feel the matrix dance XD
and while wearing the special vest, you can get killed in COD to feel how cool it is lol :D

How many dimensions do we need to include in order to get taste and touch into it as well? 3D?

what type of game are we talking here ?

RPG ?
you go out to teh world and make a few friends and start adventuring

Warfare ?
You go start your personal war

Sports ?
go play in the yard

seriously, if ever games get this far, mankind is doomed the next day it is released.

My real concern comes with the controller. Touch screen LCD? At least that's what I've heard so far. I've used enough touch screens in my life to know that's not gonna fly well and it's going to be f'ing expensive. I already think 50-60 for a controller is stupid, what'll that be? 75?
not to mention extremely fucking breakable

I come from the era of FUCK YOU<THROW CONTROLLERS> either talking to the game itself or to your friend who is being a cheap asshole. Adding a screen to the controller just = expensive all around

touch needs real 3D. A tv screen is 2D, but can show 2d images of 3d objects(which is what you usually see on a tv). a 3d tv like the ones we se today can be considered visual 3d, but touch needs physical, aka real, 3d.
Taste just needs a peripheral, like...  a taste dispenser  ???

May have been a joke question, but I like to answer joke questions.  ;D

Were you pretending that you were fingering your 2D girl in your game? I could just imagine on the touchscreen a huge vagina and on the TV would be the rest of the girl. At least virgins and nerds will be prepared for sex when their time comes! (Get it? hahah)

Yes, plenty of games. Specifically, the exclusives fill up pretty well and you can tell the difference. Metal Gear Solid IV was an 80 gigs game, but they chopped down to make it fit into 50 gigs and we lost a lot of stuff. Kojima should have made two BD discs. The game solid over 5 million copies. There's a lot of other games, too.

Stay on topic. I don't want to see a console flame-war.
