If you've avoided using the Start Screen, I couldn't really tell you the difference. Other than your computer is now specifically referred to as "This Computer," in case you forgot what you named it.

Yeah. I'm not seeing any particular difference. I guess if I uninstalled Classic Shell, I might. Wait, it's smaller than Windows 8 if that counts for anything.

There's better improvements than 8.0. Faster, better search, more customization, Start Button (duh) and additional boot sets. Not sure if I want to take the risk with with 8.1. I really want the customizations and boot options. The search isn't as smart as Windows 7 so maybe 8.1 fixes those issues?

vmbox if you dont want any risks, you can test which drivers to install and what effects it has, also which driver to install first.

edit: about the search, on what basis is it not smart? it takes longer? if thats the case then check if indexing is enabled.

When I search for something that I know it's there, it shows me 0 return. So right now I think it's classic shells maybe? I mean I see some of the options of Classic Shells on there but what does it have to do with Windows search function? This isn't a one time thing, this is like an everyday thing.

kitamesume:
its possibly because the search function is restricted to one particular location, e.g. folder1 or drive:C for example.

Not sure, I just tried it on Images section and it works nicely. But some sections it doesn't work at all. Anyways, ... I'm gonna go and update this thing. I want 8.1.

zherok:
8.1 uses Bing to search, just to let you know. Internet searches are supposed to be neat looking but impractical. Mine don't work at all for some reason. System searches seem to be unable to find any programs that aren't already part of the start menu system, while the old search could. Kinda useless in my view.
