true that apple has been ahead but look how long they been at it and look how fast Droid is catching up. Since you can decide which phone manufacture you want and still use the Droid OS is a big plus. You want apple you need to stick with apple.
In terms of Andriod catching up to Apple I'd like to think it's just imitating Apple for the benefits of companies like samsung, HTC etc. I haven't seen anything special or I like from the Andriod software, unless you can tell me otherwise. Sony is trying to play catchup with its new xperia phone for games, it's most likely a flop anyway, it lacks the quality Sony use to have, and the iphone has been at it with the games for a few years now.
People think Apple are competing with Andriod when that's not really the case. Andriod is yes imitating and catching up to Apple because they have set a standard but the real competition lies between all these different phone companies that use the Andriod software, they are going at it.

When it comes to new technology for Nokia, they had 6230, N95, 9700. They realeased their N8 phone, all they could do was throw in a 12 megapixel camera, but that was nothing new, people got bored of the "LATEST PHONE WITH LATEST MEGAPIXELS", the phone camera war between sony and nokia is over along with them. They've been replaced with Andriod phones, blackberrys and Iphones, smart phones in a sense.

And Samsung and LG just sell shit loads of models constantly releasing phones every two weeks or months, cheap and cheerful, that's why they have such high sales.
With the OS diagram you showed... Just because something is the fastest growing within a year doesn't mean it's going to take over or thats the most sales. Islam is the fastest growing religion but Christianity is still the biggest. There's just an opening in the marketing for phone companies to have an OS that rivals the Apple, Apple is the reason why Andriod are selling, because they know Apple
had superior OS. Plus many big companies use Andriod software e.g Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony Ericcson. So they are all pretty much on it. so the numbers game works well for Andriod. Notice how Nokia haven't got Andriod?
Okay enough defending Apple here. There are better phones the the iphone 4. The samsung galaxy S carries an AMOLED screen which has such awesome array of colours that puts the iPhone second. HTC's are technicallly better then the iPhone.
