very likely the area should be mostly attended by younger people, around 15-18, than adults, who likely have both no interest in such things as they are far too busy not being broke

Hate to point out the obvious, but it's probably going to be the other way around. Since its so unusual asking employees to dress up as maids and behave in that manner they're probably going to expect above minimum wage. Then there's the security overhead costs, and whilst you can save some money on rent by having it just out of town, in order to cover all those costs you're gonna have to end up with a bigger mark up on the stuff you sell. Basically, its not going to be broke 15 year old's making the trek for a place they can't afford. I see this sort of thing all the time (our town centre has a good 30 odd pubs or something stupid). The further from the centre and the more expensive it becomes, the older the regulars. Atmosphere doesn't mean a bloody thing.

Oddly enough, I remember having dinner at a restaurant in Regina, Saskatchewan about 30 years ago where waitresses were wearing French maid outfits.
The dinner setting was very formal, intricate, high-class.
There was a lot of cleavage being displayed at a time where showing cleavage wasn't really in style for women's fashion.
It made quite an impression on my late, shy, introverted teenage years  :)

I;m not planning to be a scrounge, i'm fed up with employers like that and it's reason why I want to start a business that has a grand potential, it would be a lot of work of curse but then again if I planned this properly it will bring me a lot of income, so it all is left in planning.

why would it have to be expensive if the plan would have things not that expensive, and planned to have a lot of customers ? it only goes to planning and locations.

oh I remember something similar, i also remember the prices weren't that high, and the mood was brilliant, atmosphere was excellent, and when I was in Japan in one of those cafe's I felt really overjoyed and it wasn't actually all the echii, most maids were in short dresses to knees and others had the long dress to ankles, the amount of guests was really large, I;d say, if I land in that cafe again next year i'm gonna have a chat with the owner for tips :)

I managed to find out that there is a rather small one about 40mins from where I live now. Right in the middle of what many locally call Mini Asia due to the high number of Asian populace living in the suburb. Great place to go and now even better... Cause its actually 500m down the road from my uni. >_<

I want to do this business because I need more cash, and this wouldn't have much competition.

I had plans on going this year, I just might go around september, when it gets chilly, those cafe's are more popular in the autumn, probably cuz people want to get warmth from the chicks, I been talking this idea over with a few friends, the biggest obstacle they see is getting girls to dress up, looks like getting customers ain't a problem, for them :P

I think you're mistaking something fundamental. Generally, maid cafés are NOTHING like strip clubs. You even touch a waitress or invade her privacy and you'll get booted out. The only difference is that the staff are dressed up as maids and are required to be very courteous  and polite to customers.
If you have a maid fetish, you'll get kicks out of visiting one, but for the majority of people who visit, the maid is not a sexual figure. She is an aesthetically pleasing one.

surprisingly when I was in Japan in a maid cafe like this, most people didn't even look much at the waitresses, they kinda got used to it, but on the other hand, the atmosphere was so relaxed that you could just melt away.
Background music was loud enough to shut out people talking but also silent and soft enough for you and your partners to talk privately in peace.

And yeah, like froody says, one unwanted move, and you and your partners (people you come with) are booted and forbidden to come back, say what you will, but this is a kind goodbye, cuz you could have ended up on the police station for sexual harassment.

That is why this kind of business is difficult to keep up, you need to watch over the shop all the time, but the profits are rewarding, and there are more rewards to this as well, a well kept place gains an unbeatable reputation, I think even gangsters wouldn't mess with stuff like that.

Tell you what, If I do get through with this idea, I will make it known on this forum, by leaving an invitation to everyone here :)

But for now, I have to think through and plan this properly. There also aren't any good locations nearby, gona have to look a bit further.
