Wouldn't an e-ink device be better for those two things (manga might be better on the itouch due to screen size and colour in the fourth generation)?

Southrop:
I bought an Archos 5 Internet Tablet with Android a long while ago. It natively supports 720p h264 (though it messes up if the bitrate is too high), WMV, DivX, MPEG2, and pretty much all common video formats. It also has support for MKV, meaning I have no need to transcode my anime at all.

Unfortunately, it's still running Android 1.6, because Archos is a lazy company and doesn't care about their first android tablet anymore ;_;

I wonder... Can you root it like an Android phone? If so, should be able to rom up to the newest version.

I've watched a little anime on my old ipod classic. It was fine for while I was at work, but I wouldn't do it if I had anything else to watch on. Very small subtitles.

I do have a 7 inch tablet now though, so I'm gonna see how it plays on there. Its great for reading manga on though.
