Even though I love the xbox, and see few good reasons for buying a playstation(being a masochist is one),

I see a few one reason to get Playstation 3. If I ever would need a Blu-ray player, I would get a PS3, you know why? Because so far where I live PS3 is cheaper than dedicated blu-ray players or the same price.

You could also get one for the awesome exclusives. I got a PS3 after my 360 broke, and after playing only a few of the PS3 only titles, I knew I had made the right choice. :)

Well, kinda seems like PSN will never come back online. Which isn't too bad I guess. *Shrugs.* Just gotta be patient. Eh?
Anyone on here a Playstation Plus Member?

Which are the awesome ones? Here is a list of PS3 exclusives and the only thing that looks remotely interesting is Killzone and MAG (scratch that, FPS do not work without a mouse). As expected there are more games from Ratchet and Clank series. Although I enjoyed them on PS2, I doubt that that one game alone is worth it.

Actually it not surprising that a lot of exclusives are also asian games. Explains why most games on that list are... dull. Then again to be fair if you look at Xbox exclusives it's just as dull. I guess good games are more often multi platform than not.

Valkyria Chronicles
Uncharted series
Kinda Demon's Souls
Kinda Metal Gear Solid 4

Then most games that work on both xbox 360 and ps3 are better on ps3 due to the stronger hardware. Considering how few RPGs are released for PC there are some decent ones on PS3. If you don't have a 360 then a ps3 is the better choice. If you have a 360 and computer then getting a ps3 on top of it doesn't seem like that good of an idea. Even though the PS3 is better in every way than the 360.

When comparing xbox 360 and ps3 something like : http://www.industrygamers.com/news/ps3-outshining-xbox-360-in-exclusives-category-shows-metacritic-data/ is nice. Shows that at first both consoles were good, 360 being earlier had a larger library. Then the ps3's releases kicked in and, well... Though to be fair, it has been a year since that was posted.

It is also flawed in that it considers exclusives without considering the PC a platform. Bioware has no exclusives on consoles as far as I know, yet is listed as a big plus on the xbox side.

It is interesting that in EU PS3 is larger than Xbox 360, while the reverse is true in the US.

I can get a good Blu-Ray player for 700NOK(133$) here. A PS3 is 2000NOK(381$). Don't see where you would get a PS3 for less than 700 NOK.

I don't buy a console for the exclusives, well I do buy Nintendo consoles for the exclusives, but still. Multi-platform games look better on the 360, imo, they do not look any better on the Ps3, they do take a lot longer to load on the ps3, though. And you sometimes need to install the game before playing on the ps3... The stronger hardware does nothing for multi-platform games, if you have an example tell me. Like I said, I don't see a good reason to buy a playstation instead of a 360, it is not better in any significant way. Multi-platform games tend to run better on the xbox, actually, because it so much easier to make games for(at least that's what a number of developers say). I mostly play online, which makes xbox the better choice. It has better voice chat, a better store, is often favored by developers and seems to connect to other players better. And has MUCH less updates. Oh, and doesn't give away your credit card information, or go offline for a week. Yes, it costs per month, but it is by far worth it.

Because I feel like it.

Uncharted, God of War 3, Infamous, LBP2, The Sly Collection, one of the Ratchet & Clanks, Valkyria Chronicles, Yakuza 3 and 4, Demon's Souls, and Killzone 3 are most of what I've played so far, and they're all fucking awesome. PS3's also got some pretty cool downloadable games. So far the only ones that I have are Noby Noby Boy and a few PS1 classics, but I've played stuff like Fat Princess and Trash Panic, and they were all pretty fun too.

Almost forgot to mention the new Team Ico game and that Ico/SoTC HD collection thing they're releasing. I'd buy a PS3 for those two things alone.

Games aren't actually much of an argument, seeing as which games are important is purely preference. As an example, the only games on your list that I find interesting are Uncharted and Infamous, with Uncharted barely making the cut. Infamous seems to have some cool mechanics, but still not worth 350$, tho.

Because I feel like it.

Press Conference to be held and addressed by Hirai Kaz. We'll see their excuses and how they're going to fix it. PSN should be back up next week.

Homeland Security is offering a hand to Sony. The matter got pretty serious to get their attention.

really? A standard blu-player cost more then the PS3? Here I can buy a blu-ray player around $100

Uhh, okay yeah, everyone has different tastes. That doesn't make buying a console for its exclusive AAA titles a bad idea though. Even you admitted to doing this. ;)

by the way, if this is just some more of that stupid ass 360 vs PS3 bullshit, I'm going to go ahead and opt out now because I have both consoles and I really couldn't care less which one some idiotic teenager on the internet thinks is better.

Minor notes on the ps3 vs xbox 360 thingy, then I'll stop posting about that in this thread since it is derailing it.

Installing a game is a plus since that in most cases lead to shorter loading times while in the game. There is a reason PC games have had install for ages, even though the extracted copies can fit on DVD/CD or their medium in many cases.

Since you asked for a single example. Dragon Age Origins. (PC is the best version graphics wise.) I have now read up a bit on the issue and it does seem you are mostly correct though, porting a game to the 360 is easier than porting to the ps3, so in many cases it will look better. While exclusives for one or the other console ends up with the ps3 ones looking better.

Disregard that, a mistake/outdated info on my part. My statement was true when PS3 was released and up to around 2 years afterwards.

Good, credit card info theft usually is a good reason for homeland security to get involved. However what if it turns out that the hackers are not US citizens? I believe this matter should be investigated at least with full cooperation of Interpol.

Last "VS" post:
The problem with forced install on consoles is that it's not expected, since few games have it. In my case me and some friends were going to play some local multiplayer, but had to wait an hour for the game to install.
On the porting part, graphics aren't important to me, on the few comparisons I have seen between cross platform I liked the 360 shadows better, but still not an improtant part. The important part is load times, online service and how well the game generally runs, all of which I feel that the 360 does better.

Homeland Security is offering a hand to Sony. The matter got pretty serious to get their attention.

It's surprising that Sony hasn't already begun international investigation, especially since Anonymous was/is suspected. Anon usually taken credit for their hacks, tho.

I read somewhere that one of the bigger issues is the fact that Sony actually admitted to being hacked. Many other companies don't admit stuff like this or just try and sweep it under the rug.

All my obligatory XB360 fan-ness aside, I do so enjoy the PS3. ... for movies and the occasional PS3 only game, <<. AND THE PSN ONE CLASSICS. :: Shakes PSN. :: I could be playing Parasite Eve, but noooooooooo.

Download a PS1 emulator (ePSXe should work [pSX works for Parasite Eve 1, not 2]), install it, download a bios (search for PSX bios on isohunt), get the bios linked up with the emulator, download the game (easy to find on isohunt), extract it. Play the game. Might require some plugin tinkering.
... heh, I like you ( here and in the other thread ). I should do something like that, really, but I think besides my obvious desire to, you know, have loads of fansubs, I like buying them off of the PSN and DLing them to the PSP. I do miss playing around with emulators, but ... I'm very pleased with the PSN networks offers and the like. Never mind, I still have my original copies of most of the games I want to play and ... play them on the PS3 anyway, XD.

X3 I really do love the PSN, especially Playstation +. I wish XBL would take a few queues from them in that regard.
random things are random.

Considering how few RPGs are released for PC there are some decent ones on PS3.

Let's just pretend you didn't say that and you can pretend that I am not saying: "JRPG is a linear adventure game with rpg stat building elements and thus the real RPGs are released exclusively on computers".

As I said, lets pretend none of that was said so we don't sidetrack this topic.

What RPGs have been PC exclusive? Even Torchlight is on XBL arcade.

World of Warcraft is pretty much the only current one left.
