Considering how few RPGs are released for PC there are some decent ones on PS3.

Let's just pretend you didn't say that and you can pretend that I am not saying: "JRPG is a linear adventure game with rpg stat building elements and thus the real RPGs are released exclusively on computers".

As I said, lets pretend none of that was said so we don't sidetrack this topic.

What RPGs have been PC exclusive? Even Torchlight is on XBL arcade.
World of Warcraft is pretty much the only current one left.

MMORPG =/= RPG.... cause MMO's fall in the same category of "is a linear adventure game with rpg stat building elements."

Throwing this out there. I bought my PS3 for $180(USD) It's an 80Gb and is worth every penny I paid for it. It hasn't died like my last 3 Xbox's. *Shiver's in fear of my current Xbox dying.* Don't do it man... Don't do it!

I also have two other PS3's (Maybe a third coming) that came from broken households. People who never turned them off and got the normally, unseen yellow light of death. I plan on fixing both of them and rolling out a backwards compatible 250Gb one and a 500Gb (Not backwards compatible) one. Gonna be keeping the backwards compatible one for myself and give the other one to my brother in law. Unless he want's it backwards compatible. Who knows? he's a weird dude. But he doesn't own any PS2 games. Eh, I'm thinking too much.

According to whom?

As for good exclusive pc rpgs(I will only say the series name, even if only a few games in the series are exclusive), you have warcraft, diablo, baldur's gate, system shock, Might & Magic, Fallout, Elder scrolls, Ultima, gothic and neverwinter nights. There are a lot more, but you get my point.

Because I feel like it.

most of those RPG's are on console. I know you stated some of which are in these series are but to name off of which you said.

Diablo is on hand-held console and home console.
Baldur's gate is on home console. Maybe hand-held. Not sure. Never looked for it.
Might & Magic is on hand-held.
Fallout obviously on home console.
Elder Scrolls also obviously on home console.

Maybe you should pick some that are JUST EXCLUSIVE to your respected PC? you might actually get your point across... Just a thought.

Rude remarks? The most rude remark I can come up with is this: Why would you ignore something in my post after refering to it in yours? That just seems a litte dumb, don't ya think?

In most of the series, the first game was a great rpg, so just look at that, it was only for pc on every single one I mentioned. Elder scrolls 2 daggerfall deserves a special mention, seeing as it destroys Morrowind and oblivion, and is only for pc.

ps: stop signing your posts, I mean really, why would you do that?

Because I feel like it.

Do you think MMO's like WoW are similar to games like... say... Mass Effect? Mass Effect doesn't have as big a thing for stat building than Elder Scrolls or Fallout but none of them play similarly to WoW.

Hahahahaha, Morrowind is the best in the Elder Scrolls series... but Oblivion was second.

You do realize not everyone is old enough to even know about some of those games, right? Like ES2D. I could probably ask people what the first ES game was and everyone would say Morrowind. So if you aren't a NERD (I.E. Someone who talks about games and how good the games are, and how good they are at said games. Taken from Ice T.) Than your statement will fall upon def ears.

Now, I'm not going to continue with this nonsense and I will end these futile words. Because in fact, they are pointless in the end. I can not change anyone's opinion nor do i want to.

Have you played Daggerfall? Be honest, because I don't think you should say that Morrowind is better than Daggerfall if you haven't played it. :/

Since when was age important? You've probably seen countless movies, and played countless games which came out before you were born. They are some of the best rpgs made, you should know about them if you play rpgs...

About the signing, if I understand you correctly, it's just to be annoying? How nice...

Ok, Dialo 2, Baldur's Gate 2, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and even WoW and Eve Online are all RPGs. One is an Action RPG, 2 of them are cinematic RPGs, two are truly "pure" RPGs, and the last two are MMORPGs. All of those games are different... but saying that MMO's aren't like JRPGs is funny because MMOs are ten times worse at being linear and purely stat building versus a regular RPG.

Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2, Drakensang: The Dark Eye, Morrowind, Arcanum, Diablo 1 and 2, Baldur's gate 1 and 2, Fallout 1 and 2 (the only good Fallout games) and I save the best for the last, the masterpiece of a computer RPG game: Planescape Torment.

These RPGs are not made for consoles, and nowadays nobody makes anything like them for PC either because nowadays games labelled as "RPG" are aimed at audience that barely have enough braincells not to drool on themselves at all times.

Yeah, like I said... how many RPGs are PC exclusives... cause you know... most of those games you've mention came out well before the current gen consoles, and the current king of the RPG realm is Mass Effect 2... but according to you...

Mass Effect games: shitty "hug the wall" context based controls, screaming "made for console!!!" as soon as you start to play.

Well, that's funny that you think that... since every other credible reviews of Mass Effect 2 makes it the best RPG of all time...

Do I agree with it? Hell no... at least I don't put my foot in my mouth about being credible or "having my opinion be superior in every way possible..."

(click to show/hide)

So I'm gonna go ahead and say that since you don't have a PS3, or use PSN, or even tell me of a recent RPG (Drakensang... wha's dat?) that is PC exclusive... to either stay on topic... or get out. We in here are discussing PS3 related problems (and this goes for everyone)... if you want to start a PS3 vs any thing else... get out as well. Start your own thread and see what happens.

Back ON TOPIC: Press conference tomorrow from Sony about the situation. Maybe we just might be able to play Mortal Kombat and Portal 2 online now! :D

Fine, 2 new ones as an example: The Witcher and The Witcher 2 which is released this month.

If you don't believe that your opinion is superior, then why have it as your opinion? Yes my opinion as I believe is superior because if it wasn't, I would have formed another one. That is why it is an opinion and not a fact.

You mad? Ok people, let's talk about Xbox vs PS3 because it pisses off TMRNetShark.  ;D

Also Drakensang is a PC RPG adaptation of Das Schwarze Auge RP system which is very popular in Germany, however I don't expect an Ameritard to know of anything that is outside of the bounds of his state.  ::)

Witcher 2 is on console though, and the original is probably going to be called last gen. The issue isn't so much a lack of PC RPGs, but more the fact that PC gaming is on the decline from what it used to be. In general, console is quite on the rise and PC exclusive may not be a term in use in the future.

No, it's not confirmed. It was hinted that it may be released on consoles, but there is a release date on PC, no date or confirmation for any console. Most likely they will port it to console after it's released on PC.

You know, jRPGs are called jRPGs precisely because they are not your regular RPGs. They focus on storylines and characters while cRPGs focus on freedom and unlinearity. And that is why for me jRPGs utterly destroys cRPGs. I like good stories and characters and while freedom in taking next action is a nice thing, cRPGs do it really shitty compared to paper RPGs. The only cRPG that can fight on even grounds with jRPGs is Planescape: Torment (Deus Ex was close and I still have to play System Shock 1&2 so can't say for sure).

Btw. Morrowind and Diablo were released on consoles.

Oh, and if you refuse to call jRPGs RPGs then please don't call Diablo 1&2 RPGs :P

PS. The Witcher probably won't be seeing consoles (at least until The Witcher 2 is released) and while devs wanted to make sequel for consoles they had a lot of troubles with it and as of now the decision about it is on hold (at least until The Witcher 2 is released on PC). So I wouldn't be optimistic about it.

Witcher 1 was using Biowares Engine from NWN, an engine so old that there probably was nothing built into it for compatibility with this current generation of consoles. It was also designed and realised as a PC engine, so I can understand that it is hard to port.
