Because you can. Don't you get it? :P

Anyway, as to why PSN is down, my suspicion falls at Valve with their Steam. I think they fucked up. Ofcourse Sony can't say they fucked things up because they want good realtions with Valve, because Steam on PS3 can and most probably will lead to more profit. Well, it doesn't really concern me since I almost never play online.

And would you please stop those stupid hardware wars? Does it really matter if someone plays on PC, PS3, X360 or whatever? Can't we all just be nice friendly gamers?

But no, I meant that all consoles are inferior to PC. But that's just my keyboard/mouse fanboy speaking :3
I was just trying to spark a flame on a boring day~

They are inferior. But so is PC. PC is not a gaming hardware machine. It's designed to do more than that. Consoles are more for games. Both consoles do provide some nice features other than gaming, but 300 dollars being put on a PS3 is a serious bang for what you're asking for. Blu-ray feature, free online passage and I so love the XBM (was it?). It's really good.

But other than that, this thread is turning into a console/PC flame war. I have PC and PS3 and I enjoy them both, very very much.

They already say that it was a breach of security, right?

Yes, they did. Does one excludes the other?

The thing I don't quite see is that these arguments are made to sound as if a console can replace a PC. I mean even if you have your Xbox 360 or PS3, you are probably going to spend $800 or so on a decent computer (possibly a little less). Now consider if you added the amount the console costed to your PC budget. You'd have a pretty nice system that would probably run games smoothly for quite a while (barring that you are one of those ultra high fanboys).

If there is a game though that is out for console and PC, I don't see why you wouldn't get it on PC. If your console goes out of production and your unit dies, you effectively lost all of your games too. Backwards compatibility is on the decline due to cost for hardware emulation, and complications for software emulation. Alternatively if your disc is circle ringed, you just blew all of your money. Buying a game on PC typically has a lot more staying power, especially if you bought it digital and not on disc.

As for PSN being down, yeah it is a pain but I suppose Sony is doing a good thing by taking precaution against future attacks. I mean anybody that can get into that system can potentially do a lot of damage to both the company and the users. Imagine if all the accounts were permanantly erased, or it triggered a system update with a virus. That'd be an even larger pain in the ass than a few days wait.
