This is why we should all use Paypal, lol

No, use Visa, Mastercard, or Amex.

PayPal is not a banking service and thus it doesn't follow the federal and international banking laws. Using paypal is signing on an agreement that you have no rights whatsoever and that Paypal may freeze your money over indefinite time without any obligations to give you reasons nor paying you interests after your account is unfrozen.

I was totally joking... you can't use Paypal on PSN... this is why people who don't have PS3 shouldn't be commenting about it...  ::)

The spectacular worldwide clusterfuck continues.

I'd be rewriting all my bank accounts by now if the PSP was any cheaper.

They don't have the CC security code, do they?

Unless you want to wake up to 80,000$ suddenly missing from your account, i suggest you RESET EVERYTHING!!

Not your credit card? Uh-oh. They said the only thing that they don't have is the security code (for sure, whether I believe that or not is moot). This is why I buy hard copy games with CASH, so no one can steal my bank account because of some other company's foul up. Thank god I never entered any CC info in... but maybe you should warn that person who's credit card that is because they can potentially get their identity stolen and someone will buy a boat and ruin that person's credit.

I haven't seen Pingry ever this whole thing started, did he realize he can't play with his misaka account ?

I never pay with my CC on websites before I check security, good habit.

Most of them redirect to a page for my bank and ask for part of a password for me as well as wanting the CC.

But I also use a different account for online purchases that has no money in it unless I want to buy something. And its a debit not credit card.

Im not really worried I dont use debit cards or anything with real money to pay for purchases online. I only use one credit card. If they have my address and stuff that doesnt really help them without any bank account info. At worst they would try and charge up the one credit card I use for online purchases and I would have to have the charges reversed and the card canceled.

Surely a credit card is more risky? If I try and make a purchase on a debit card that's not got enough funds it just bounces back and doesn't let me.

Naw because even if they charged a bunch of money to the credit card if the charges are fake the credit card just overturns them all and its like they never happened, plus since its just a credit card if the card has to be canceled or whatever not a big deal. Now if it was a debit card would be much worse. They could clean out your bank account or whatever and while you are waiting on the bank to fix it etc you have no cash to use to pay bills or whatever. I only use credit cards to pay for stuff online its much easier if something bad happens to deal with.

Depends on the limit too. For me, I have a $1000 limit on my card. I have several times more than that in my bank account. Thus for me, debit is more risky for the loss factor. For the others who run around with $5000-$10000 limits for god knows why, that's REALLY risky.

So mine never has any cash for them to steal anyway. They'd get a max of about £20.

They tried releasing prepaid debits here in Canada... it didn't catch on. Supposedly though, we Canadians are more comfortable with our CC and Debit cards than many other countries including the US.

Its not prepaid. I just have more than one bank account. The one that wages etc get paid into I don't even have the card for (its at my parents) to try and minimize cash being stolen both physically and online.

Seems like so much of a hassle just to keep money safe. I'm sure PSN is generally safe. Same as paypal and using straight CC info on sites like Newegg, Amazon etc.

Its not really much hassle at all. Means I look after my money better as I know when I'm transferring it and all I have to do is use online banking to transfer stuff.  And my mum got her card cloned using play.com, so you can never be too sure.

Wonder how many PS3 gamers are getting itchy thumbs for some online action?

kurandoinu's way is just a case of getting used to this kind of control, for her it's as easy as for most of us to just pick up the phone and text or write a letter and send it by mail.
