Should i buy a PS3

<< < (8/9) > >>

Sosseres:
http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost.php?p=1113342&postcount=2 Has a decent summary of resolutions of PS3 games. PSN has more games than disc releases that are natively 1080p...

http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost.php?p=1113344&postcount=3 Same for Xbox 360.

Basically there are a few games that are 1080p natively. Many that up-scales to it.

So, assuming you don't have a 1080p television, this is not a problem, but as my fiance is a HD whore, X3. It's also kind of lends to the "PS3 still has untapped potential" bit.

Hello 7 posts. There are many games that support 1080p native resolution on the PS3, or upscaled 1080p. Check your sources again please.

o_O Hello random negative attack. Am trying to ... you know ... get into posting here and ... that is so not friendly it's not funny. And according to the list that Sosseres there aren't that many, but again - I was talking about NATIVE 1080p, not upscaling.

As for my sources, I stated that it was my OWN resource. Like I said, it's called going into GameStop and looking at the back of the cases.

Keep in mind, I badly worded the fact I was talking about NATIVE 1080p - not an upscale. If that was the case, then most games upscale. ( Which, uh, Infamous upscale wasn't as pretty as it was at smaller resolutions. )

Now, looking at that list, I am going to wonder if Microsoft posts that their games are 1080p - as in the back of the game when it lists resolution it has that resolution - but really just upscale to it, where as Sony is being honest that it's native resolution is 720p and upscaling when it can. However, according to this link ( http://wikibin.org/articles/list-of-full-hd-1080p-ps3-games.html ) there aren't that many that are native or even upscale.

Annnnd after reading a few articles, looks like my conclusion that XB360 games that say 1080p are not necessarily that. Whoo, false advertising. :: Kicks MS. ::

In the end, BOTH systems lack true 1080p - excluding upscales, which do not all ways look pretty, X3. I find it amusing that PSN titles ( as well as XBL titles ) are more likely to be in 1080p than the games themselves in seems like.

No. The 360 lacks more games that can actually play 1080p native resolutions. Of course there are a lot of 720p native resolution games for the PS3, but most exclusives are in 1080p.

I never look at those multi-platform games. Because in the end ... they're multi-platform and won't take advantage of what the PS3 has to offer .. in many cases.

Which exclusives? I know for a fact that Infamous, Resistance, and Folklore, which are exclusives, are NOT 1080p. That list I linked to ( here again: http://wikibin.org/articles/list-of-full-hd-1080p-ps3-games.html ) is fairly recent and there aren't that many "exclusives" on there.

PS3 may upscale, but once again, some games when upscaled look HORRIBLE ( and most games do NOT upscale, they'll sit at 720p unless you specify otherwise ). There are over a hundred exclusive titles for the PS3 ( more like one hundred and forty, but whatever ) and there might be 15% that are actually 1080p - which is being generous. So if by most you mean 15%, then yes, you're correct.

( Now, don't get me wrong, I love my PS3. In fact, in terms of better online environment and play I would say that you should get one on that basis alone and, obviously, my XB360 won't play Blu-Ray and is part of the reason why it's the PS3 that is attached to the HD television and NOT the XB360, 'cause Blu-Ray = love. )

Unless you have a 40" HDTV to upscale games to 1080p, yes they do look horrible. And why would you want to upscale a 720p native resolution game?

There's enough 1080p native games for the PS3, exclusive wise. Don't look at the multi-platform.
