Really? Games today (past 3 years) really don't compare at all to the games of the past. Half Life 2 is still better than Halo's 2-Reach, the first CoD is still the best out of the entire series, Age of Empires II is better than any RTS post 2000's (with the exception of the Total War series, but that's a slightly different RTS), and Baldur's Gate 2 is still one of the best RPGs.

Problem with most games today is that they aren't hard enough to beat on normal. Hell, even both of those CoD's on the list on Veteran aren't nearly as hard as say... Ghouls and Ghosts. I want games that make me Rage Quit, make me stop playing and do something else, reflect on what I need to do to beat it, then give it another crack.

Read his list again. None of the games you mentioned are on his list. :)

I was most specifically thinking of the Total Annihilation to Supreme Commander comparison, TA was a great game when it came out, still fun. SC is still better though, even though it has a large list of flaws.

As for the games you mentioned, it is all subjective if nothing better has been released. Though I do know AoE II is one of the oldest games to still have a competitive scene. There are a few older, not many though.

Play Batman: Arkham Asylum. If you have same taste as me you'll be able to finish it in one sitting being left in a state of crying and cursing to Rocksteady Studios for not making the game longer.

Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 should be somewhat short. 10 hours for each game max. depending on your difficulty.

I do agree with TMRNetShark that Black Ops is superior to Modern Warfare 2 in story telling. Though at its release that was not the case. It has gotten a bunch of patches since which really made a difference.

Thanks Mcgreag, that worked! The game is running really buggy, with crashes and audio problems that make me restart the game, but it is playable at least.

Came up with another problem. Knights of the Old Republic doesn't work on Windows 7.
