eh not really its just working on catching up to its larger counterparts. Once the market for smartphones took off there = flood of profit cash which = R&D which = play catchup to where they want to be

wait till ARM processors becomes on tier with atom dual cores, you`d say wow at processors at 1/5 performance of an i3 but runs on AA batteries LOL.

but i`d say WOW only on an i7 performance processor running on AAA batteries =D.

I'd go wow when an i7 performance processor was run on motion power or whatever it is called that powers some watches now a days.

People are wowing over the clock speed? I'm impressed by the power consumption. If they actually made a phone that could last longer than a day/one hours call time then I'd find that more useful than a slightly faster processor.

we are wowing about the power consumption, as you`d see, a couple of us here are discussing that we'd wow IF we see an i7 run on AAA batteries, someone even mentioned he'd wow if it runs on static/kinetic generators(the one used on watches?)

CPU speed maybe fast but we'll need to see actual benchmarks first.

Hmm, after glancing at that article I just need to ask, why do we need 1080p and 7.1 surround on mobile devices?

2.5 Ghz quad core on a phone. Sounds flashy and all, but is it really practical?

not really, ppl just keeps demanding ridiculous stuffs one after the other, first they ask for phones that has quality camera, then asks for a phone with a touch screen, then they ask for phones that can play, then they ask phones with internet, then they ask for phones with a huge hdd that can store HD movies, then they ask for a bigger screen that lead to a touchpad style keyboard, now they ask for longer battery life because they asked too much stuff to integrate into their phones and while at it, they requested a monster processor for it. i`m guessing next they'd request for a phone that can do what a laptop can so they could throw their laptop away and just buy a portable screen in case they wanted a big screen...

who wouldnt want a phone with 2.5ghz processor that can play crysis @ 420p res LOL, oh wait, lets add an LED projector to be built into the phone too, FTW for portability! i kind of wonder why there isnt a laptop with a built in projector...

You're thinking too shallow. Just because it's ARM doesn't mean only phones can use them.

It has uses on low power, simple and task-specific servers or portable media players.

The features weren't added just because of demand. They were added because it's financially and technologically feasible for them to do so.

Some of the current phone models already have mini HDMI in them.

by integrating a projector i meant literally including a mini projector that can project a 5feet wide screen into a flat wall or something using your phone =D i`ve seen small projectors the size of your standard mouse that gets powered via AA batteries, so integrating it into a phone, or if thats a little too small to pack in then into a tablet would do. google images has a chunk loads of them of different kinds and sizes.

The Sharp SH-06C does to some extent:

Too bad it's only 640x360

You can get that phone in the US if you really cared since DoCoMo (Softbank is multimedia locked) phones can be unlocked through a simcard attachment, but have fun paying ~$400-600 for a Japanese phone.
