You live in US. Would it be too far fetched to assume that big US cities have a "japan-town" just like Chinatowns?

Haha, yeah... New York, Philadelphia, LA, and SF all have Chinatowns, but it's all just Asians shops in an American town. I would RATHER have American shops in in an Asian town (well, a place like Kyoto). The atmosphere is not the same when walking in Chinatown compared to actually going to a town in Japan or any other Asian country.

Not really about being an otaku, but when you know you watch/read too much anime/manga. It kinda fits.
I recall there being another similar thread but I cant remember the name of it so cant really search for it atm. Would be pretty old by now anyway.

^ you've gotta be kidding me.
concerning the OP, i guess you'd be an otaku if you are obsessed with something to the point you live and breath that something.
Just publicly showing that you love anime/manga does not make you an otaku, unless you go to extremes other people have shown here.
