Good news in technology this morning.
« on: May 06, 2011, 02:56:57 PM »
During my morning news check I found not 1 but 2 news articles that made me smile that I had to share

First: US Judge: an IP address is not a person

Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for John Doe lawsuits

And Second: Mozilla stands up to U.S. government takedown request
I knew I liked Mozilla for a reason.  This also helps inform people about the add-on MAFIAAFire (which I had never heard of :P).  Hopefully MAFIAAFire can make Domain seizers a moot point

Just remember,  before you criticize someone, walk a mile in there shoes.  That way you are a mile away and have their shoes. :P

1st news:
and i thought government was purely evil, meh.

anyway, he indeed said the truth, an IP address isnt exactly a persons ID, heck, you can mask your self into a different IP, if it were that simple from the beginning, every hackers around the world would be busted before they can even say "its not me".

2nd news:
mozilla add-ons are open source, you could make, add and modify any add-ons you wish with some exceptions.

so why would they say it to mozilla and not on the real creator of MAFIAAFire? actually, they dont even have the right to, they didnt use it for illegal purpose, they just made it, the users who are the ones misusing it is the one who should get busted. its like gunsmiths getting busted because they're selling firearms to people while the people that uses it should be the one getting busted.
