If this game doesnt have dedicated servers im not buying it. My pre-order will be put towards my BF3 pre-order.

I know DICE said that they will put Dedicated Servers... but EA HATES people stealing their games so they will do everything in their power to prevent that (even at the cost of getting rid of dedicated servers). If you don't believe me, look at EA's track record. The only reason I *regrettably* like EA is that they can actually compete with Blizzard's WoW with The Old Republic. If it was any other company (besides Activision I guess), TOR would fail in the shadow of WoW.

Then again, EA could probably still fuck up TOR and then I would rage quit.

Im a Battlefield fan not much of a Call of Duty fan. I would probably like Call of duty more if it didnt lag so much because it doesnt have dedicated servers. I play Battlefield Bad Company 2 and lag is never a issue, sure maybe once in a blue moon ill get a lag spike but 99% of the time lag is never a issue with battlefield. Every game i play of Black ops even with 4 bars lag is always present and is noticeable.

Considering that Modern Warfare is a rich franchise, I know they built dedicated servers for the PS3/Xbox 360 but not for PC (was it for Black Ops?). I know it costs a lot of money but these guys generate tons of money. I'm guessing they don't want to make dedicated servers to save on money?

I get a Host migration at least once a day (if not more) and I play on PS3. There is no way that Activision has dedicated servers for BO.

I think he has it switched up. Black ops is P2P and its already a bad game but its a Laggy bad game because of P2P.

PC dedicated servers aren't run by publishers 99.99% of the time. They run a query server and that's it.
All you have to do is study it out. Just study it out.

I didn't want to make a WHOLE new thread for this so I'm going to change the name of the title of first post and put the link in here.

Call of Duty: Elite’s free features unveiled. The service is due to launch alongside the release of Modern Warfare 3 this November on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

That actually seems pretty cool with the stat tracking. It'll definitely change how people smack talk at schools or other social gatherings. Instead of "Oh yeah? Prove it!"... you can just show them right on your phone. :P

Now I hope they do this with the Spec Ops and the Survival modes as well.

GameStop: Modern Warfare 3 pre-order already outpacing those for Black Ops. [6.6.2011]

I am totally not surprised whatsoever. Modern Warfare 1+2 are definitely more popular than 5 and BO. A lot more players joined and still play MW2 along with BO. Once M3 hits though, EVERYONE will play the shit out of it.

Map Packs for MW3 will come first to Xbox 360, demo gameplay unveiled at Microsoft's E3 press conference

I'll post a video when I find it.

No matter how fancy MW3 will be if it doesn't have Dedicated servers im not buying it. Im a very competitive person and if i lose because of something that is out of my control like lag especially lag i get very pissed. Hopefully they also balance the weapons out and fix hardcore mode (or i should say one hit kill mode @black ops), Battlefield BC2 hardcore is perfect CoD should model theirs after BFs.

Good news -- Infinity Ward “having conversations” on dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 3.

Now if only they will have them for the 360 and PS3 (which I totally doubt). The only reason I say this is because I would like to join servers with specific maps and not just have it randomized. That, and this whole Host Migration is kind of annoying as well (which I'm sure most if not all PC users are fed up with because everyone's hardware is different).

But the BFBC2 ps3/xbox servers are run by EA, are they not?

Almost all of EA's games run off their own servers.

I also find it funny that PSN is free, right? Xbox Live is $50 a year, right? PS3 and Xbox 360 both had/have issues with Host Migration, right? Guess what, not ONE Xbox Live game has Microsoft server support. The only thing that Microsoft does with Xbox Live in terms of only gaming is the host syncing... which Sony does for free. Where is that $50 a year going to? Just so you can connect to Xbox Live? XD

It's almost like "Well, we'll let you play online... but you have to pay us first because we own the systems." It's complete bull crap to pay for a service that doesn't really do much except connect you to other Xboxs to play the game online.

It doesnt make any sense at all. You would think by paying for online you would get more but the PS3 and 360 are about even on features. The Xbox 360 does run smoother then the PS3 but thats the system itself no the online.

Well, for multi-platform games.. yeah, in the past they have run better on the 360. But not anymore.

Im talking about games in general not the same game on both systems. I've played the xbox360 for a long time and i just got a PS3 and the games i've played on there just dont run as smooth as the games i've played on the Xbox360.
