Atelier Totori Adventures
« on: May 15, 2011, 03:21:21 AM »
NIS America publishing Atelier Totori Adventures in the US and Europe this fall.

The game takes place five years after Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland, and sees Rorona back in the picture as a seasoned alchemist and a mentor to Totori.

Totori has left her home, the fishing village of Alanyaon, to look for her mother. Expect plenty of different endings and a continued emphasis on item synthesis.

^^powered by pie? Does it get any better than that?

After seeing a bunch of booru pics, I badly wanted to try this franchise. But, dangit, this means I need to shell out for a PS3.

Do you need to have played the earlier (JP only) releases to get the games? I know with a lot of series, Tales+FF, for example, you don't. But it sounds like this series has some consistency to it. ... It might be worth digging out my PS2 to try the older installments.
/Wiki has this horrible habit of spoiling the entire plot when all you care about is "this game picks up where ... left off".

personally I don't think you need to, as with every new the story usually gets reminded, some events are simply said to happen, in Atelier Iris every game was different Iris, in this one you simply follow a new (cute) apprentice to alchemy, and, powered by pie, if everything was this good, there would be no evil :)

this is a good reason to start collecting money for PS3 :) (among a few other titles)

I see. Well, if it references back to old events, I really should play the first games. I hate "sequel spoilers" that basically tell you what happened in the last game. Ex., Series A has a sequel with a certain plot, so you know that the protagonists of the first installment don't die, et cetera, or that faction B won the war.

I can't wait for this. Rorona was the best.
