Recommendation: games that are easy to pick anytime
« on: May 16, 2011, 07:41:16 PM »
First and foremost, I'm a PS3 gamer. So yeah, only PS3 titles.

Okay, what I'm trying to look for are games that can be played every now and then. I usually play JRPGs, but those games are usually focused on storylines, so no good. Because I only play every once in a while, most of the time I always forget what's been happening on the game I've been playing.

You could say that what I'm looking for is not storyline intensive. Episodic or chapter-by-chapter is still acceptable. God of War, Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed, titles like that. Also like FF13 post game, just wandering around, completing quests and whatnot.

What not to recommend: shooters and fighting games. i suck at those, so it's no fun for me. Also, I play offline. Too lazy, to get a router to hook up on my PS3. So no PSN download titles.

I would also greatly appreciate if you would include a short description of the title you're recommending and what makes it awesome.

The newest Mortal Kombat game perhaps?
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

What not to recommend: shooters and fighting games.

It would really help to know what games you already have, but here's a few:

Infamous is a pretty good game, with some pretty cool mechanics.

Saints Row 2 is an open world game, sorta similar to gta, but completely focused on having fun and doing random things(The only thing anybody did in gta).

Prototype is also an open world game where you are basically a man with various monster-like abilities.

Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, open world rpg.

The fact that you want a singleplayer game where story is unimportant makes this really difficult.  :-\

Because I feel like it.

Yea, I don't like fighting games that much...

What I've played:
FF13
Demon's Souls
Assassin's Creed
Valkyria Chronicles
God of War
Prince of Persia
Bayonetta
Dante's Inferno
Afro Samurai
Wet
Little Big Planet

I have Infamous, but haven't really gotten into it. I have tried it a couple of times, starting it from the beginning, but it's just not clicking on me.

Oops, my bad, somehow didn't notice that line.

Now that I think about it, because you need PS3 games, I might as well throw RTS out of the window...

What about driving games? NFS: Hot pursuit (new one) was released for PS3 iirc.

Civilization Revolution (Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution)
I don't think I have to describe this game. If you don't know what Civilization is, we have a problem. lol
but this game is linear on story and I personally can play just one Civ for about 4-8 hours depending on difficulty of game.
i know my Uncle played on the hardest and had one Civ last his about 32 hours. But he took breaks and what not.
It's a great game none the less. You can find it for around 20 bucks.

Chivalry, will get you somewhere. Rivalry, will take you there.

Get Folklore... it's a good RPG that isn't too hard to follow the storyline even if you play it once a week.

Uncharted series: Great looking visuals make this adventure/treasure hunting game great. There are shooter elements, but it's third person and a lot of fun.

+1 You can get both for like 25 bucks now. So it's a sound investment considering the quality of the games. Not to mention Uncharted 3 will be coming out.
That's even more of an incentive for you. :D

I saw my brother playing Uncharted, and yeah, seems like story intensive.

Ratchet and Clank, I've thought about it..

As for Civilization, I haven't really played that kind of games. Have always thought of it as sims, building a village, whatever. But after looking at a couple reviews, it looks awesome. Something new for me, great suggestion.

Thanks. I personally didn't play games like Civ either. then like you, looked up reviews and watched my uncle play... and I just had to have it. Especially after I got hooked on the demo. lol I mean I played that demo for hours and hours on end. It was weird cause I always get sick of demo's quick. Obviously cause their just a demo.
