Unless flamethrowers have improved greatly, I still think they're somewhat useless. Heavy, low usage, relies on weather conditions... It's far from perfect. Flaming zombies are not very practical from a survival point of view. Some things we know about are immune to those sorts of conditions.
Modded paintball gun with ball bearings might be useful....

Ball bearings the size of a .50 cal won't go no where with "only" CO2. If you really want something that will kill zombies.. just get a real gun. (Watch until the end when he uses "Dragon's Breath" shotgun rounds)

Slingshot with bearings... whatever. Or make a slingshot merged with a cross bow known as the "Crossball". I don't care. Silent ranged weapon other than the obvious bow and arrow/crossbow.
