There's a study that found out that the stranger a child's name is, the higher the probability of that child being made fun of by other children. So while everyone thinks that they'll give an "original" and "cool" name to a child, to the rest of the children that have "average" names it's just something to laugh at. So...

this is probably the best choice.

Siegfried is the best name ever (though I wouldn't give it to my son). As for a girl name I think Yuki is really nice but it probably won't fit in many countries so Mai would be better.

Yuki is just a strange name here at Brasil, everyone will know that you aren't brazilian from your name.

Thats the nice thing about the US, Unless your name is something like "Chief Running Horse" or "Hiawatha" everybody already knows you are not native! (But then again, most native Americans take on Western names these days anyway.)

Anyway, I think Yuki is a great name. If I had a daughter I would like to have that as her middle name. Not very practical as a first name here. The problem of having that as a first name is that kids would pronounce it as "yucky" don't need to burden a child with something like that.

Dont they usually have the native name as well? Like in their circle the are called "The Puking Dog" and then for others they are called Bob ?
