Windows Update for 2011, what to keep away from
« on: May 21, 2011, 07:57:07 PM »
KB2524375
KB2533552

These will check if your Windows 7 is Genuine so for those that don't have a genuine copy don't install those two. Anyone else notice other updates not to install?

Are you sure about that?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2533552

Doesn't mention anything about GWA checks.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

In Feb of 2011, Microsoft issued a statement saying they want to release few updates for GWA check. It appears those two that I mentioned above are part of their scheme. Aside from 1033, isn't there another one from long ago?

Fortunately for me I'm not running a cracked Win7 anymore cause I just bought a new laptop. When are these updates suppose to roll out anyway?
There's nothing here, because I'm too lazy to put something here.

Isn't it just updates that puts that little message

"Windows 7 Home Premium
Build 7800 x64"

when it finds out your copy hasn't been activiated/is pirated?

To my understanding and from what I googled, your desktop becomes black and you cannot change it. It asks you to authenticate your OS. It also forces you to restart your computer. That's all I know.

Daz Loader remains undefeated.

KB2524375 have nothing to do with WGA, everyone not just Microsoft have to push an update because Comodo was being stupid.
All you have to do is study it out. Just study it out.

Non-legit versions of win 7 afaik just turn your background black and puts the version info in the corner. Sort of like the beta version... but it just fucks around with your desktop background randomly. The restart thing does show up after like a month use though, but I don't recall it being a force restart. (My htpc is using this copy)
This is your home now. So take advantage of everything here, except me.

Is Windows like crazy expensive for you guys or something that its so hard to buy it? Im just curious I live in the US and it was only like 120 bucks for a Windows 7 ultimate when I bought it. It was one of those stand alone new system builder versions. I know alot of you dont live here is it alot more where you live?

Bought Windows XP Pro, Bought Vista Ultimate, why dump another 300-400 dollars on Windows 7 when it came out? Why is it so expensive? Why aren't we getting discounts on purchasing previous Windows?

I've already decided with my uncle not to purchase Windows 7 and I may not purchase Windows 8. They could still make a killing off of their Windows platforms at around 150 dollars when they release it.

Not to mention that they price-gouge their paying customers to make up for the losses they get from pirating customers.

What? Don't tell me there are still people using Windows! It is SO last decade. Now, all the cool kids are on Linux.

Because Linux is widely supported by many applications. I see.

The only reason I am on a legitimate copy is because I got it with my laptop. I agree with Freedom Kira, it's really sick just how much they demand people to pay for their OS. I don't think I have ever bought it stand-alone, always got a copy with my new laptop/computer.
