This is interesting, there's a bigger gap between the PS4 and XB1 than I was thinking.

I really hate the idea that devs are going to undercut PS4 games to make things easier for their X-Box One releases.
just means your ps4 will run cooler and use less energy, and last longer

Which is a good thing.

Meh, I don't really care about graphics, I'm more annoyed with the idea that devs are going to be intentionally skimping with xplatform games because XB1 is weaker and they can get away with it.

I also find it pretty amusing that there is no real interest in using the touch pad/kinect features. It's shaping up that this generation will truly just be a graphically enhanced version of the previous, since why bother?

I'm not surprised by the lack of interest in the Kinect.

I don't really see it as lowering the standards or anything, think of PC games you have botch a minimal and recommended requirements. Yeah it'll probably optimized for a bit lower end set up but like someone else said the PS4 will still run it easier and cooler.

I thought the whole point of a more powerful system is so that devs don't need to worry about constraining resources too much.

You guys read the latest claims by Microsoft after reports from several developers stating PS4 is still faster and more powerful than the overclocked Xbox system? Its on vg247.

Put it behind tightly sealed glass to prevent dust getting into it.

Putting Microsoft anywhere near it dramatically decreases what it's worth.....

Microsoft has since responded to the claims telling Kotaku that Xbox One’s architecture “is much more complex than what any single figure can convey.”

“Ten years ago, you could argue that a console’s power was summed up in terms of a few of its specs, but Xbox One is designed as a powerful machine to deliver the best blockbuster games today and for the next decade,” said the spokesperson.

lol complicated microarchitecture and it's still weaker.

The only thing complicated, Is how in the fuck did they think this would anywhere near as amazing as they hyped it and people wanted it to be.

Dude, it's complicated. You and I and the rest of the people here wouldn't understand it. The world wouldn't understand it. AMD doesn't understand it either nor Intel. Sony, too. Only Microsoft knows!

The facts (without looking at the usually measured specs) are quite obvious. They supposedly have a good audio block, but it's dependant on how the devs implement it, approximately half the chip consists of caches for either the main processor or the additional units. It has extra chips for decoding, encoding, playback and scaling of videos in the background. The only real disadvantage is the lack of a GPU (of course this isn't important to MS) since the PS 4 has a newer revision with 1152 units@ 800Mhz vs. 768 units@ 836Mhz. So we end up with a box that does have one advantage: multimedia/TV. Well if you want all of those extra chips without kinect there are sub 100$ solutions to buy alongside your PS4.
