The facts (without looking at the usually measured specs) are quite obvious. They supposedly have a good audio block, but it's dependant on how the devs implement it, approximately half the chip consists of caches for either the main processor or the additional units. It has extra chips for decoding, encoding, playback and scaling of videos in the background. The only real disadvantage is the lack of a GPU (of course this isn't important to MS) since the PS 4 has a newer revision with 1152 units@ 800Mhz vs. 768 units@ 836Mhz. So we end up with a box that does have one advantage: multimedia/TV. Well if you want all of those extra chips without kinect there are sub 100$ solutions to buy alongside your PS4.
GDDR5 vs. DDR3. APU (PS4) seemless access to GDDR vs. the CPU + GPU (XB1) load and unload to RAM, which needs more time to program and does take longer to load (though I don't think it would take too long, DDR3 is still good, but what type of speed are they running their system at? :) ... makes you wonder). I don't know. Microsoft should shut the fuck up and swallow shit already.

the microsoft tech can allow it to function better then the ps4 if the ps4 clocks and everything were the same, but they made a similar mistake as the ps3 they made it more difficult to program for then their competition which proved to be a bing hit on ps3 with game patches and such.

So yea have fun with that microsoft when contracts arent renewed as quick to give you advantages in release dates and such

PS4 was going to opt for these ... small cache chips which would boost it to about 1000 GB of programmed correctly, but they went more mainstream and decided to opt for easy and simple programming. Good stuff.

I don't care. I want games. Sony needs to bring games in and they need to bring a shit ton of them by 2014.

Also in comparison it looks like PS4 has over twice as many games announced compared to Xbox.

Also I want slenderman games for PS4!

Stumbled upon this article today: http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/166649-ps4-is-50-faster-than-xbox-one-report-game-developers

No idea on its legitimacy though.

That's already been reported. I think it's legitimate if you program without optimization at all. If you optimize for the ES Ram, the you might gain quite a lot on the PS4, but the soc of the Ps is still unknown afaik, so they might still add quite a few specialized units to it gaining a greate advantage. Also the X1 is better suited for games that don't need to frequently load stuff into the RAM (interpreted as shooters, that only load a level once) Hoever a shadow of the collosus or skyrim with constantly changing textures, environments, that try to shorten or remove all loading times, will need the faster ram, and 32MB of esram won't be able to offer that kind of power.

Edit: Much more interesting are the supposedly phenomenal yields of the PS4.

not like it takes a genius to know that the one designed as a gaming system works better for games and is easier to program for games

Anyone noticed that sony managed to put in always connected experience and camera ID without being burned to the ground? Sure they did it in different contexts to the X1, e.g. they said the player would want to stay always connected, so they are giving that option to the player. It's all about how you present things^^

But PlayStation/Sony realizes that there most definitely is a market for it but it's not the entire market. So for the ones that want it they will open it up to them, And give them more abilities and things to do/use.

There are definite advantages to being always connected. But it should be the developers levering that advantage, so users have an incentive to want to be connected. Not simply forcing it and hoping developers find a use for it later down the line.

Also applies to the Kinect, which still doesn't seem to have a killer app to make it more than a $100 "shout/gesture at your system to do basic tasks" remote.

People don't like being told what they have to do, Especially not when they have to pay for it then find out they don't even control the product and have no choice.

I found the swords they make to be really cool but they kind of lose something when they are really wobbly and need two people to just hardly swing them....
