The reason people like consoles is they can stick with them and not upgrade every 3 years like a pc. its a cheaper investment for more of the casual gamer. I was never huge on PC gaming but seemed every time a big name game was coming out all my friends that did play pc games were having to buy new video cards or build new machines.

cuz your friends must have been building cheap shitty machines, i have a 7 year old gaming computer i spent roughly 1200 dollars on, aside from HDDs and new case fans this past like 3 months ive not spent a single dime more on upgrading my comp and it still plays todays games, cant run all kinds of shit on high but its still good.

What you got under the hood?

Its because of the High settings. I remember crysis they all bought new stuff. then another game came out after crysis and most of them upgraded again. Guess its personal preference. to run on high or not, i figured most PC gamers always opted to run on high and seeing the rigs people build around here that do game also usually opt for the very high end graphics cards. Also its the main argument you always here PC games look better.

This term, I do not think you know what it means.
Being a PC gamer doesn't mean you're 'hardcore', it just means you're not part of the glorious 'Own Every Console Of This Gen' Master Race.

You are correct I should have said more budget gamer.

no most hardcore pc gamers actually play with the settings that make it easiest to see people which often means making the maps and general textures look like shit so that the crystal clear skins of the player now show up all the easier.
Its the people who play wow and oblivion and skyrim that are more likely to want to play on high with everything maxed because it looks pretty

First computer I built is still running, too. It's outside the room.
Q6600.
4GB OCZ Raptors
PN5-D Asus Motherboard
2x 8800 GT SC EVGA (SLI)
Cooler Master 850 PSU (Bronze)
If I waited a bit longer I could have built a first generation i7 and wouldn't have to ever build a new computer until ... 2018 or 2020 probably. Oh well.
