its probably not all that radical its probably just listed that way to try and get people to pay to see the not so radical approach of 3-5 year console life moving forward for the primary life with a new console being every 5 years instead of like 8-10

If consoles went to a 5 year or less lifespan I doubt they would sell nearly as much. The reason people like consoles is they can stick with them and not upgrade every 3 years like a pc. its a cheaper investment for more of the casual gamer. I was never huge on PC gaming but seemed every time a big name game was coming out all my friends that did play pc games were having to buy new video cards or build new machines.

Meh, there's something to be said about spending money on more games on a primary set of systems rather than owning redundant platforms just to cover a handful of exclusives. Can't say I miss not having access to Gears of War and Halo. And so far the Wii U ain't exactly making me want it.

Wait about a year or so until the systems have been tested by the public, major issues fixed with the hardware, and the superior slim/lite version is released.
PLUS, loads of games will be lower in price.

Guess its personal preference. to run on high or not, i figured most PC gamers always opted to run on high and seeing the rigs people build around here that do game also usually opt for the very high end graphics cards. Also its the main argument you always here PC games look better.

my point exactly i will probably build a new computer in the next year or so. And i will probably spend around 1300-1500 and have an obscene amount of storage prolly grab 4-6 1.5/2 tb drives 1 256gb ssd for my  OS.

Ive given up on dual VC so spend another 300 on my vc 300 on processor nice lian li simple big case. 16 or 24 gigs of memory. Throw it all on a gigabyte motherboard(ive come to love gigabyte products theyve served me well)

The original Nehalem was bang for my € at least. my core i7-920 processor still lasts, and is not reaching it's limits yet, even though it's at the stock speed of 2.67 GHz. Although I don't encode, so I probably don't count, do I? I only game CPU intensive games (EU4+PCSX2 simultaneously for example) and it does that perfectly.

The update adds background music player Oo, for some games that's a necessesity in the long run (I'm not talking about Eternal sonata, here, it's going more in the direction of Disgaea)
