I though Yoshida said no DLNA and MP3 support at launch, it might be added later on. As for the CDs, aren't disc based media becoming obsolete? And if you want to play music CDs, even average radios at least have 2 CD drives/ a CD changer, which would extend the somewhat limited amount of music on one CD. The only Multimedia function I'll need form my PS is the BD-drive.

I play my music through my computer. I have a high-end sound card and a nice pro stereo headphones. Plus, I'm getting a switch for optical connections (up to 4) so I can switch between my PC, PS3 and PS4.

I'd rather fill my PS4 with useful data rather than music that I already have on my computer.

Personally, I call bs on CDs disappearing. They've weathered a LONG time and physical media will never fully die. The Vinyl revival is proof of that. So much is lost when it just becomes a few files you're given permission to access; the liner notes, artwork and the care that went into the other aspects of the package. I love the way The Ocean layered perspex in their release, or the manner Mastodon made a fold out digipack. Hell, I have a Naivepop and Petitfool album that's wrapped in a god damn cloth. Collectors will always exist, and collectors will always favour physical media over files.

I'm not saying that the CD will die I'm saying that every household usually already has better options for playing them. Most people will use their PS4 with teh TVinternal speakers, and that's no way to enjoy music imo. Even my over 20year old stereo in berlin sounds better than most TV internal speakers (note I found one TV with pretty good speakers, but that one is a UHD screen that costs 8k€)

Its really a mixed market There is two types of people that buy and use consoles. One being the younger generation that might live at home with parents still or in a small apartment. And only have a nice tv without decent sound. Then you get into the bit older generation that might own there home and have more of a "dedicated media room". I know from my experience When I lived with my parents I watched and listened to almost all my music/media on a pc. Then when I got my first apartment  I started watching more media on a bigger  screen but still kept the PC for music. Then when I finally moved into my own Home. I did a full "media room" to watch and listen to 90% of the stuff. As i got older I found myself stepping more and more away from pc based media player and more into the living room.

Now I have a sonos system for full house music playback, that also plugs into the 7.1 surround if I want to listen in the living room. All movies/tv are watched on the tv with 7.1 sound. Only thing I use a pc for is Anime and only reason is my first gen intel nuc is not enough to run madvr/mpc-hv without dropped frames and I hate the microstutter on 23.976fps content.

Don't assume everyone's setup... I, for one, want to have a headset that will work on the PS4... Guess what? There isn't one except for Turtlebeach's stupid Ear Force PX4 that's not even out until the 15th. I really hate Turtlebeach products....

My (crappy) solution: reroute sound to my PC, so that it's played on my logitech G930. I can walk around and do stuff while watching BDs, and comfortably skype with friends while playing PS3 games. Since I don't want my friends to be annoyed by crappy quality sounds/movies/animes, I prefer it to be in my HS.

I have a pair of Sennheiser headphones that play the most beautifully enriched sound that my ears just soak up.

So yeah, headphones.

Almost all ram chips placed such so the length of traces on the PCB are matched: the distance electrons have to travel affects timings.
GDDR5 have much higher latency than normal DDR3 but also higher bandwidth. Suitable for GPU use.
DDR3 have less latency(tighter timings) but also lower bandwidth. Suitable for CPU use.
